AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (HAL)

Well that may be, but their first fab was not something they fully developed on their own, which is what I was trying to say. Now they are among the best chip fabricators in the world, and very much do most development in-house. Huawei mostly won't be able to make chips because ARM supposedly...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Electronics#1969%E2%80%931987:_Early_years Samsung got its first stuff from Micron, which is a US company. I can't find any reliable sources for TSMC, so maybe TSMC developed its own tech. The best I can find is TSMC was initially a JV with Phillips NV...

We do have RAM protecting from various frequencies. https://www.thebetterindia.com/166010/iit-kanpur-india-innovation-invention-army-stealth-news/ Tejas's public available frontal RCS is 0.5m^2. That isn't achievable with size alone. And it doesn't have any of the shaping that modern stealth...

I'll ask you this one thing : why is the Su-57 so lacking in stealth? It misses out on basic thinks like serpentine intakes, something even the AMCA will have. According to you they have funds, and judging by the various Flankers and Fulcrums, they clearly have the expertise. So, I'll ask you...

AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (HAL)

The Su-57 isn't actually very stealthy. Quite frankly its more like the Rafale or F/A-18E/F. It lacks serpentine intakes, its engine blades are out for the world to see. The fit and finish is poor at best, making it an LO aircraft at best. Then there's the IRST and the lack of canopy coating...

Yes. Its hidden in the nose, and comes out when needed. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/22534/high-quality-shots-of-unpainted-chinese-j-20-stealth-fighter-offer-new-capability-insights

It looks like the F-22 doesn't actually have an IRST. Apparently the USAF decided against it to keep costs down, but the Raptor has space to include it in the future. That's interesting. Arguably puts the Raptor at a slight disadvantage against a proper stealth plane like itself.

Do you know how well development is going? Latest I can find is that BEL is developing it. Housing can be modified after the initial IRST is developed.

AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (HAL)

We need to develop an IRST first. ADA has said that sensors and avionics will be shared as much as possible between the AMCA and MWF. IRST is still in intial stages of development for MWF. http://makeinindiadefence.gov.in/projects/projectlist/2/1

But the video and the model both show splitter plates with serpentine intakes. Maybe they are keeping studying DSI also? We will have to wait for further news.

AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (HAL)

Yes. Now all news since AeroIndia 2019 is suggesting only Splitter plates, with serpentine intakes. I really wish we went more YF-23 esque with the AMCA, adding DSI and better nozzles.

Unlikely. We heard about the Mk2 gaining size and wight very early. As early as 2015, we saw a nose plug. We also knew about the more powerful engine since 2010. So nothing new here. We haven't heard anything about size changes for AMCA though. Last we heard is that the design is fixed.

Again you are making claims without ant base in reality. Stealth isn't some magic that can't be understood. There are two types of stealth : stealth by shaping the plane, and stealth by RAM. We already have RAM. What we need is stealth by shaping, which is what AMCA is. Why is this so hard to...

You need to relax about China. They have a larger defence budget, and a larger economy. We can't expect to keep up with them right now. Anyway, I can't find anything on the J-14. The only thing I can find are the J-20 and FC-31. H-20 seems much further away. Most concept imagery varies from...

Again we have the MWF. IAF has a requirement of 200 MWF. 200 is more than enough to keep those factories around. It will keep them busy for a good amount of time. So far 40 Tejas mk1 + 83 Tejas mk1A, means those also will be around for a good amount of time. The MMRCA will increase capacity of...

AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (HAL)

Who told you that AMCA was a spin off of MMRCA? Do you have any source for this? AMCA has been happening since 2009. Ghatak since 2011 and MWF since 2015. A lot of technology has been built for these planes. You doubt our plane design capabilities, but we have designed the Tejas. You doubt our...

I'm not underestimating it, just saying that India has the capability to design and build a 5th gen plane. Tejas and the MWF design are more than proof of this.

For anyone wondering, this is the official list of things being made in India today: http://makeinindiadefence.gov.in/projects/projectlist/2/1 Notable projects include: Chaff and flares IRST (100) Advanced Self Protection Jammer (ASPJ) Pods and Radar Warning Receiver (100) Long Range Air...

Fully agree. The AMCA has already been shaped, and a lot of the risk has been spread out by reusing the tech in other projects. I'm having a hard time see the AMCA fail.

AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (HAL)

You're misunderstanding the point. A lot of technology has been developed. A lot of radar stealth is about shaping the plane, and the rest is about materials. RAM is one part of that. The ADA has shown that it can design a fighter, the Tejas was successful. There is no evidence that the ADA...
