Zakir Musa has quit as the commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen after the terror outfit's mastermind in PoK Syed Salahuddin strongly condemned his threat to Hurriyat leaders on Friday.
In audio tapes released on Friday, Musa had threatened that the Hurriyat leaders coming in the way of Hizbul would be hanged in Sringar's Lal Chowk. The Hizbul Mujahideen's masterminds sitting in PoK had termed Musa's remark 'unacceptable', leading to fissures in the group.
Within 24 hours of releasing his first statement, Musa on Saturday released a second audio tape where he said that he was leaving Hizbul, saying that he stood by his views. Claiming that the freedom struggle was for establishing of an Islamic State, he said that if his blood was shed, it would be for establishing a Caliphate (Shariyat) rule and not a secular state as suggested by moderate separatists. Musa also clarified that the death threat in his first audio was not for Hurriyat and Geelani, but for modern-era militant outfits who were fighting against them.
On Friday Hizbul Mujahideen had said, "Zakir Musa's statement is unacceptable and the outfit has does not subscribe to the statement".
"Such a statement is unacceptable to us. It reflects the personal opinion of Zakir Musa."
Musa and Hizbul Mujahideen also had differences of opinion on the issues of Al Qaeda, ISIS and Taliban fighters.
