90% of attacks on army camps happen due to laxity on army's part. I have seen the security apparatus in peace time areas and it is utterly pathetic. Even here, this camp was a major camp and having double layer protection was mandatory, instead you had pathetic fencing. As for strikes, we need major firepower upgrade and should launch focussed strikes in 1-3km axis to kill 10-20 militants in one go.

What you don't understand is that Porki army does not care at all about its citizens. So many are already killed by TTP, JUA, etc etc. All this just gives them greater propaganda ammunition.

The way to do it is hurt the ISI and army in fatal blows + win the propaganda war, so that citizens lose faith in army. The army only understands violence and humiliation.

This is a really nice thing to hear early morning.

The Indus river serves as a good natural barrier, and our culture and name India is literally based on Indus river. It would be a joke if the Indus is not a part of India. It's like Israel basing its name on Sinai Peninsula.

PS : One doesn't even need SF to hit terror headquarters. The ex Indian army chief said that we can buy terrorists inside Pakistan itself and hit their headquarters.

Good estimate and proper context. I do not think we spend more than 5B on HUMINT but we do spend more than that on other INTs and RAW is now an org and does not have fixed budget like other PSU. We gather intel through various means, a lot of HUMINT is passed on simply through the diaspora and the agents of political parties themselves. Financial intel is passed on by business tycoons operating in foreign land. Apart from that we spend a lot on radars, satellites, etc which does amount to more than 5B a year in TECHINT. RAW 'probably' only doles out cash on an ad hoc basis when someone needs to be bribed otherwise our HUMINT comes from our organic reach everywhere.

If we use words like RAW budget, it would mean that only one org is tasked with intel gathering and field ops, but since multiple orgs are working on it, there is no point in speculating RAW budget. What's important is we get things done. From what I read, RAW does very little to no field ops. Most people in IB and RAW are from police cadre, not army cadre. A friend's father was in the police only told his son after retirement that he was in RAW. Any spicy news? nothing, normal desk job filing, compiling secret data and filing a report on the data collected. No 'ek tha tiger' stuff. He was not even allowed to carry a pistol. He got his normal salary + analysis allowance.

Indian equivalent for ISI is not RAW but DIA (defense intel agency). They are the ones who do field ops. RAW only does political stuff like keeping in touch with political families of various countries, so that tomorrow if you need to change the government, you can build a coalition and do so. Ajit Doval is an odd man out in RAW for getting involved in field ops.
