Sunni-Shia clashes in Gilgit

Sectarian clashes going since April 3rd have killed 2 dozen and injured more than 50 so far. Foreign tourists visiting scenic Gilgit, mainly Japanese, have been evacuated as a result.

The Pakistani military on Sunday evacuated 120 foreign tourists, mostly Japanese nationals, who were stranded in the northern Gilgit region after sectarian clashes that killed nearly two dozen people.

The foreigners, including nationals of Norway, China, Germany ,Thailand and Canada , were flown in a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft from Gilgit town to Chaklala airbase in Rawalpindi.

Gilgit has been under indefinite curfew since April 3, when nearly two dozen people were killed and over 50 injured in clashes between Sunnis and Shias.

The clashes began after gunmen struck during a strike called by activists of the Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, a front for the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba.

Following the attack on the Sunni activists, a mob blocked the Karakoram Highway and killed several Shias after pulling them out of buses. Gilgit is the capital of the Gilgit-Baltistan region and is popular with mountaineers and tourists.

The Govt of Pakistan has been over the years trying to change the religious majority of Shias in the Northern Area.

The tensions will obviously run high.

However, the Shias in Paksitan are a downtrodden lot thanks to the superiority complex of the Sunnis out there and so they are in no position to protest.

That is also why the Shia mosques get bombed so regularly.

Now this has become all too common/evident that wherever you find islamists and b@st@rd mullahs you have riots, killings, terrorism, crime, bombings, rapes et al.....Our country is no different, the only difference here is that the sold-out Paid secular media covers their tracks really well; however, due to new age internet we get to know where they are and what they are doing be it Hydrabad or Kolkotta. How long we gonna tolerate this shit is a matter of time....sooner or latter the Ostrich (i.e Hindus/Sikhs/Budhists/Dharmics) have to wake up to the reality and take their head out to breath (i.e. clean up the mess) created by these mullahs!! Start with punishing the political parties that support wahabis/deobandis/salafis (the so called nationalist islamists termed by secularists, who are actually the cause of the mess in pakistan and world over)!!

Strangely Kargil district is completely Shia compared to Kashmir, i knew that only in Univ time. They are very pro India in Kargil, i saw a video posted by some one in FB showing celebration in kargil town after India wins world cup.

I wonder how much Shias are left in Gilgit baltistan!!

Gilgit is out territory. The Shias are from Gilgit and are pro India. They are running a movement against the pakis and have sought Indian help in protecting and liberating "it's own citizens".
