New travel policy: Sri Lanka cancels on-arrival visa for Pakistan – The Express Tribune
Good.move, we don't want the extremists to move out unchecked and cause trouble in friendly countries.
Under current circumstances GoP should temporarily suspend all VUA agreements till the security improves.
Just because the Buddhist monks want total control of Ceylon and are now targetting the Moor is hardly any reason to cancel on arrival visa advantage.
Pakistan has been a loyal friend and helped Ceylon with arms and advice in the massacre of the LTTE.
Hardly to be suddenly suspicious of one's friend and ally,
Visa on arrival to Pakistanis.
I know right, What's next? Free guns to the mentally insane?
Imho this has nothing to do with the Budhist willing to take control, we enjoy cordial relations and cancellation of visa upon arrival service should be seen as a precautionary matter to prevent spread of extremist eliments that may take refuge in their country. With the ongoing war against ttp a large section of these terrorists and their supporters is on the run and every country has the right to reject them.
Pakistan should cancel the service with 30 or so ciuntries till we have brought our house in order.
Do educate as to why the Moors (that is what they call Muslims) were attacked when they had done nothing very drastic?
So. you admit that Pakistan is exporting terrorism world wide, right?
If so, then Ceylon has taken a wise decision.
This was done to stop Pakistanis from entering, not only terrorists. In any case there is a very thin difference between the two. Jihadis on the run will not suddenly land up in Sri Lanka.
Don't twist my words, we are not exporting terrorism to Sri Lanka or elsewhere. State to state relationship is strong and whatever budhists are doing to muslims is their internal peoblem. They dudn't cancel military cooperation with us, did they?
If you think this will stop 'Pakistanis' entering their country you're either naive or pretending to be an idiot. Visa upon arrival service is cancelled, not banned. Pakistanis can still obtain visa through embassy or consulate.
U r not exporting terrorism to Sri or elsewhere???
90% of terrorism activity in the world has link with Pakistan . Open ur eyes and drink pure indian tea
That is what you Indians love to preach. But the world is less biased than India and does understand the dynamics of tribal areas where the terror is coming from and which countries are involved in prixy wars.
Yes thank you. I meant that it will become tough for them to enter and also check their numbers.
And that is my first point, controlled and pre checked entry for the time being by going through
regular visa procedure.
We love to preach?? Bera- ther pls look into the last 90 % terror activities around the world . Pakistan is involved one way or other
Sri Lanka shuts terror door on Pakistan - The Times of India
It is a big slap on the faces of Pakistanis and few false flag Sri Lankan trolls who on different forum were bad mouthing against India.
Neo who has been trolling on this forum is trying to make it like Sri Lanka has taken this decision after consulting its military ally Pakistan, but in reality the Sri Lanka has came to know that Pakistan's rouge ISI is misusing this privilege for its anti India activity/obsession; which can cost them massive northern areas in future, and at that time this bankrupt nation Pakistan, like China will be of no help to them.
Where ever these Pakistanis go they create problems for the host.
Good decision Sri Lanka, either you stop these jihadi ----ers to operate from your territory against India or be screwed by India; you have chosen the former; well done.
Srilanka is no friend of India's. There is some very serious animosity among them towards us. They are simply doing this to save their own skins. They too seem to have learned the fact that the pakis can not be trusted. And that allowing them to engage in anti-India activities from their soil is also allowing the pakis to infiltrate and subvert the srilankans as well. Two birds with one stone. After all India is not the only dar-ul-harb that must be reclaimed.

NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka has banned visas on arrival for Pakistanis after investigations showed that jihadist groups targeting India were using Sri Lanka as a transit point. Lanka is also one of the few countries that extended such a facility to Pakistani nationals.
A bomb blast in a Chennai train in May revealed new plots against India by Pakistan-based jihadist groups using Sri Lanka and Maldives as transit points. A multinational investigation including Malaysia zeroed in on a Lankan national, Shakir Hussain, who confessed that he had visited India over 20 times on reconnaissance trips.
He told investigators, as was reported by TOI, that he was facilitating militants from Maldives who were tasked with attacking American and Israeli consulates in Bangalore and Chennai, critical infrastructure like airports and power plants in Chennai among other targets.
The investigation, sources said, also pointed to involvement by Pakistani officials at their mission in Colombo. Indian officials confirmed that Sri Lanka and Maldives have been red-flagged by Indian security establishment for some time. The new Maldives President Abdulla Yameen, too, has been sensitized to the growth of fundamentalism among youngsters who may be traveling to Pakistan for religious studies.
Modi, in his first conversations with Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, had raised this issue which he said was of particular sensitivity to India. On his return, Rajapaksa is believed to have launched an investigation. The results of the probe have contributed to the decision.
In a related development, Sri lankan authorities have been rounding up Pakistani asylum seekers — almost 1,500 of them will be deported back to Pakistan. This has invited sharp criticism from human rights activists and the UN, because many of them are Ahmadiyas (a banned sect in Pakistan) and Shia Muslims.
The Pakistani foreign office has also been informed that its nationals would henceforth need pre-departure visas to travel to Sri Lanka. The Lankan government probe revealed that many Pakistanis are arriving as tourists by taking advantage of easy visas on "electronic travel authorization" but staying on as "refugees". In 2013, the UNHRC recorded almost 1,500 Pakistani asylum seekers. Lanka has now decided to deport all Pakistanis who have overstayed their visas.
While Indians have traditionally focused on north India as points of infiltration by Pakistan-supported elements, south India poses a particular danger.
May 1 Chennai train blast revealed plots against India by Pakistan-based jihadists using Sri Lanka and Maldives as transit points. Modi conveyed the sensitivity of issue to Lankan President Rajapakse during his May 26 swearing in as PM and sensitized the new Maldivian president also.
On return to Sri Lanka, Rajapakse ordered probe which led to decision.
If the relationship is so strong, why ever think that terrorists will be coming fr4om Pakistan and not allow visa on arrival.
If visa on arrival is permitted for others, it obviously means that there is suspicion that Pakistanis arriving without vetting would be posing some threat.
