All these has happened just because of US's missing strong policies.. I would say that the only reason where US is not able to take a strong decision in Afghanistan to nail down Pakistan is just because of Obama and his policy.. He is not totally in control of what he's doing...

He need Pakistan because
1. Don't want to lose Pakistan to China (2 points)
2. To keep India occupied in Kashmir Issue (1 point)
3. To keep the supply route to Afghanistan active (2 points)

need India
1. To counter China's military might and growth (2 points)
2. To counter Pakistan when it backfires them (1 point)
3. A market for their defence products (0.5 point)

need China
1. to avoid the fear factor of China in pacific ocean region where they dominated all times (1 point)
