But USA does not try to hide it.
Hiding it or not but both doing the same & the same damaging effect for India....All this boils down to be on our own & build credible defense systems internally.

No, just confirmation of some long range tupalovs that we bought just before the c 17 deal.
Is that really what you read into that statement? If he said the sky isn't blue that means India has deployed Novator? :pound:

Sir u nailed urself on ur foot , due to Cost overrun & delay in gorshkov , Talwar class frigade , Nuclear submarine & the list goes on

Ur right US is not a reliable supplier but , they to keep the timeline

Russia is not soviet union , better way to go about is India to build its industry capacity with more private players along with good R&D facility

Russia rants at India's military buys

As India is opting to buy weapon platforms from western countries like US in the last few years, Russia has expressed its displeasure and said it has stood by New Delhi for the last 50 years and built India's defence industry.

Russia is the biggest defence partner of India and more than 70 per cent of inventory in the armed forces is of erstwhile USSR and Russian origin. However, the last one decade has seen India broad basing its options and has bought weapons from the US, France and Israel.

It has emerged as the second biggest supplier of weapons to India after diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 1990. Israeli companies are now engaged in nearly all the projects like upgrading of planes, ships and guns besides providing electronic warfare equipment and hi-tech surveillance and avionics. Moreover, Israel is actively engaged in several strategic projects of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Given this scenario, Komardin, chief of the Russian Government-owned Rosoboron export, said transfer of military technology over the last 50 years helped India develop its operational capabilities and industry.

Airing these views during the international aerospace exhibition 'Aero India 2013,' which ended in Bangalore on Sunday, he said Russia virtually created the Indian defence industry and lamented the fact that this contribution was ignored.

Criticising the media for wrong projection of Russia, Komardin, however, questioned India's decision to buy more expensive and what he claimed less capable military equipment from western countries. "We are partners, deal with us like partners. Don't be carried away by chocolates or sweets," he said.

Giving an example, Komardin wondered about India's decision to go in for US-made Chinook heavy lift helicopter over the Russian manufactured MI-26 and said "the Mi-26 cannot lose out to Chinook. Chinook is a baby. The Mi-26 can lift it and can drop it anywhere."

His observation came in the back drop of NATO forces in Afghanistan often requisitioning a MI-26 to lift a snag-hit Chinook and drop it to the nearest base. "We don't accept that the Mi-26 lost out to the Chinook. It's all politics. A Mi-26 can transport 80 troops. The Chinook, in comparison, doesn't have half of its capability," Komardin said. "It is not the Boeing that is winning the tenders, the US State department is doing so...We have offered licensed production for all equipment since 1964, the US is doing sales without transfer of technology," he said.

Stating that Russia will not sell weapons to Pakistan, the Rosoboronexport chief also questioned India's decision to buy C-17 heavy lift transport aircraft from the US and said the cost of these planes is high and comes without transfer of technology. He said the US, Canada and Australia use these planes to ferry weapons and troops long distance and wondered about India going in for C-17.

India is buying 10 C-17s from the US through the foreign military sale(FMS) route and the first plane is expected to join IAF in June or July and the entire fleet will be operational by mid next year.

Stressing the point that Russia has always shared technology with India for frontline weapon system, Komardin said the list included SU-30MKI jets, T-90 main battle tank, Smerch rockets, BrahMos missile, the fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) and the multi-role transport aircraft.

However, the Indian defence establishment justifies its decision to look for other countries besides Russia due to problems of assured supply of spare parts for weapon systems. In fact, the problems assume serious proportions sometimes and the top political leadership of the two countries had to intervene to sort out the matter.

re: Russia rants at India's military buys

Russian only nailed their defence business in India , by delaying & demanind extra cost for projects like Gorshkov carrier, Talwar class frigade , Nuclear submarine lease

Problem with T-90 tanks , no spares for MIG fighters . So u nincompoop expect us to buy more

Its India's big heart we still have 5th generation fighter project , Transport aircraft & other big ticket business is freezed with you guys

USA on other hand does not provide TOT ,but keep time line . But major problem with them is they will nail by not selling spare parts when u most require eg: in War

So India should give importance to its private defence companies & help them to supply our mammoth armed force requirement

How did Russia "build" India's defence industry?

There are many issues with Russian defence supply. If Russia had transferred all tech, India would be making its own aero engines. I mean there are a lot of issues. Russia is not Soviet Union, and India of the Cold War is not the same as India of today.

This.

Russian engines are also going to pakistan via china.
So russia should also be aware that we are unhappy about it.

Re: Russia rants at India's military buys

Komardin called a group of journalists to a small room in the Russian pavilion here and said his ire was directed against the Indian media that was not accurately reflecting Russia's "rootedness" in the Indian armed forces. But he said the decisions to buy the Boeing-made C-17 Globemaster and Lockheed Martin-made C-130J Hercules (both US firms) transport aircraft were big mistakes because they were not suited to Indian military needs.
Komardin said Russia also thinks the choice of the Boeing-made Chinook helicopter for the IAF's heavy-lift needs was wrong."What is the Chinook compared to (the Russian) Mi-26 (that was also in the competition)? It is a baby. The Mi-26 can lift the Chinook by the neck!" he said.
Komardin said Russia has $7-billion worth of arms transfer projects with India going currently, compared to the contracts that were signed with other countries. "I am pained that despite this, I find the Russian role in building India's defence industry diminished," he said.
Komardin said "Ask your minister of finance. May be he has so much money to spare and India has no social problems," he responded, barely able to conceal the sarcasm.

Re: Russia rants at India's military buys

How can any Indian forget the way the Russians exploited India thru their agent-the Italian waitress. They have litrally robbed us by demanding whatever price they cud think of and have not been able to provide spares for most weapons or meet deadlines for delivery including for TOT for T-90 Tanks till date even though the agreement was signed way back in 1999. A frienship need to be nurtured and can't be taken for granted. In any case USSR was a great friend of India. Russia is the exploiter which is using past friendship to justify loot of India. We must scrap the joint development of FGFA+MTA and shud either choose Ukraine or anyother European country for jont development. We have committed 30 billion dollars for just FGFA and I am sure for that kind of money, we can force US to sell F-22s to us even if its sales are banned by an act of senate. Imagine, for 30 billion for FGFA and 18 billion for MRCA we can get nearly 144 F-22s and also force US to sign deal for TOT with complete compliance with their needs.
Regarding MTA, we can always join hands with EADS for A-400M and force them to relocate their assemblyline in India.
What has russia done to provide us with Tech? Many of you might give an example of missile tech and Brahmos. But some day when the truth is puiblished somewhere in some news article, I will share the details with you guys. If India had indeed been helped by Russians in our IGMDP, we wud not have taken nearly 30 years from 1984 till date to get to where we are now. Please remember that our missile program has its roots in German sounding rockets and not russian junk.
