Re: Indian Express confirms army 'coup fear' story

These intelligence agencies are more loyal to the King than the King himself.

Each one wants to do a oneupmanhip over the other to show how great is their intelligence capabilities!

Any fool would know that if a coup was being planned, the Div in Meerut, the Brigades in Delhi, the Republic Day contingents would do the needful and with sure shot success, than two battalions, being moved from far away!

Maybe a massage, that was well received. ;)

Maybe a massage to GoI to not try to do what it did with the good Admiral, if the DoB issue gets any nastier?

To bring the benign fear of the coup which our political class has to a active state and make the consequences known. Isn't it a possibility?

This confirmation comes after almost two years of denial by both the government and the Army of any such incident, which was first investigated and reported by The Indian Express on April 4, 2012.

That report in The Indian Express was called "absolute rubbish" by Defence Minister A K Antony; the then chief, General V K Singh, speaking to The Hindu on April 7, 2012, called it "fables of a sick mind" and claimed that "no clarification was sought by the government".
Lol....what an embarassement!

Army said unit was headed for IAF drill, ex-Air Chief says this was due only a month later

Air Chief Marshal (retd) N A K Browne, who was heading the IAF during the controversial Army troop movements of January 2012, disclosed Friday that one of the two movements — that of para commandos from Agra — was actually planned for a month later as a joint exercise with the Air Force.

Browne also denied an explanation by the Army — given when The Indian Express had first reported on the troop movements on April 4, 2012 — that "the paras were being moved to check out the possibility of their 'marrying' with the C-130s in Hindon".
He said the Air Force had nothing to do with that para movement.

NAK should be asked if the Para Commandos are only for IAF drills?

There are many training activities that are planned at the unit level, then there are those at the Brigade Level, then at the Division Level and then the big exercise under the Corps and Inter Services.

Imagine a route march, which is done regularly, requiring intimation to the Defence Ministry.

There were two brigades, plus an Artillery Brigade in Delhi, the Republic Day contingents in Delhi Cantt and a whole Division at Meerut.

Could someone explain that if a coup was planned, why use two units from outside and away from Delhi, whose movements could be detected and stopped, when moving six battalions (two Brigades) from Delhi Cantt would be so quick that before anyone could react, the coup would be accomplished?

Maybe Sekhar Gupta could explain the logic, eh Lala, can you?

The Govt and its bureaucracy to pin down and demolish one man (VK Singh) as a villain, has sullied and tarnished the image of the whole Indian Army and put its loyalty to question to confuse and scare the Nation!

Excerpts

................................. Sources said that the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Pulok Chatterji convened a 9.30 am meeting in the PMO with Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth.
They were joined by Attorney General Goolam Vahanvati.

Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma, who was in Malaysia, was contacted the previous night, and told to arrange for "certain files" to reach the PMO.
Sharma is said to have informed the PMO that since the operative part of his defence dialogue in Malaysia was over, he would cut short his visit and return to the capital.

Sources said that this morning meeting weighed the options of action against Singh — from dismissal to asking him to go on leave. In this context, files related to the 1998 sacking of Navy Chief Vishnu Bhagwat were referred to.

But there was no unanimity on what action to take. The Attorney General is said to have advised against taking any drastic step. After leaving the PMO, he proceeded to his residence to prepare a note on the legal points arising out of Singh's petition......................
