NEW DELHI: India and China traded another round of diplomatic blows on Friday with Beijing officially taking up with New Delhi President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Arunachal Pradesh. While a government spokesperson in Beijing had made China's reservation public earlier in the day, China later decided to up the ante by taking up the issue bilaterally with India, much to the chagrin of authorities here, diplomatic sources confirmed.

According to sources, India reacted promptly by giving an appropriate response to the reservations expressed by Beijing in its objection to the visit. Indian officials, in fact, reiterated what Mukherjee said after arriving in Itanagar earlier in the day, that Arunachal Pradesh was an integral part of India.

Beijing is said to have conveyed to India that visits to Arunachal such as the ongoing one by Mukherjee were not in the interest of ties between the two countries. It said the two sides needed to work together to maintain peace and stability along the border areas.

Beijing recently again issued stapled visas to two women archers from the state which prevented them from taking their flight to China at the last minute. China continues to aggressively claim Arunachal even as New Delhi describes it as an integral part of India. For China, the state is linked to the question of legitimacy of its wider claim over Tibet. China believes that Tawang's past links with Lhasa authenticate its claims over the state.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson earlier in the day told a news agency that India should not complicate the border issue between the two countries. "We hope that the Indian side could meet China halfway to safeguard the overall interests of bilateral relations, refrain from taking actions that complicate the boundary question, work together with us to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas and create conditions for boundary negotiations," the spokesperson told a news agency.

"China-India relationship maintains a sound momentum of growth, with the two sides exploring ways to solve the boundary question through friendly consultations at the special representatives' meeting,'' he added.

India though avoided responding to China's protestations in public. In 2009, when PM Manmohan Singh visited China, Beijing had said it was "deeply upset'' with the visit to the "disputed state''.

Let the President of India have a Summer Residence in Arunachal Pradesh and the Parliament have a Summer Session in Arunachal Pradesh. Let us see which dog barks again.
Good Suggestion.

Also make Itanagar 2nd capital of India. All major events should take place from Itanagar.

That will be great. It will be a welcoming relief for the MP's and bureaucracy to avoid Delhi's heat and some relief for Delhi'ites as the MP's (Most problematic) are gone away for sometime!!

I also want Yearly north east visit by students from rest of India and vice versa. Govt should make it mandatory and schools or students should be randomly be chosen for this tours. While there the students should attend classes with the students of that state and visit important heritage sites. It will integrate the people and will give us all a sense of togetherness. I had some good friends in college who were from AP. One married a Mallu girl. Integration is quite going on in people to people level.

May be it should be moved to India affairs. @pmaitra, @Virendra please look into this request.

Off topic, By the way there is a road in your name near Majestic, bengaluru. What does your name mean? Is it a historical personalities name?

Nrupatunga road is not exactly near kempegowda bus stand, but still anyways Nrupatunga (Nrupatunga is a title of Rashtrakoota emperor Amoghavarsha. nrupa = king, tunga= grand or tall. really don't how tall he was. It's metaphor something the tallest among kings in terms of work)

EDIT: Nrupatunga Amoghavarsha - Wiki

I agree with you and @nrupatunga. I also think that a foreign country meddling with Indian internal affairs (President visiting AP) might as well count as foreign relations issue. I will let @Virendra take the final call.

I believe that the focus of this thread is not the presidential visit (internal affair), but the Chinese objection to it and the Indian counter charge.
Thus I think it suits better to Foreign Relations section. Thank you

Next the Chinese would rename the all parts of Asia. Central Asia = Greater Xinjiang, South east Asia = Southern Tibet, Mongolia = Northern China, Pakistan, Srilanka = Dear friends of China.

Chinese are the weakest race around, anyone ever heard of an intimidating Chinese? It's a common stereotype that Chinese are weak and have tiny peckers. In the UK rappers are considered intimidating gangsters and are usually Black, White or South Asian. If people seen a Chinese rapper they would laugh. ----ing midgets, Chinese women are known whores.
