Sir, in this regard, I blame the armed forces with all due respect. Yes they are under civilians but they need to push the civilians to understand te implication of skin nothing. If required, twist their arms. The armed forces cannot let our nation be at a strategic disadvantage. The Army is fine as it is. They take instructions from the government. What we need is more efficient, understanding, dynamic and intelligent politicians and babus.

BTW, one of my friends in the Army was telling me that the "statement of purpose" of the Army does not contain even relief operations. Yet, the Army does it. In the strictest sense, the "Army" of any nation, is only for defence against external enemies. I don't think the Army is responsible for taking on internal enemies. There are other organizations, other institutions, to do that.

IMHO, Pakis army is facing very low morale and poor condition of its arms, armamentarium and preparedness.. So probably they forsee that they cannot hold on to Northern Areas in a future conflict with India. So they do the next best thing. Lease it out to China who are better equiped..
Interesting to see what happens when the already discontended Baltistanis rise up.
Next probably they'll lease out Baluchistan, given its strategic importance.

Seriously though, we have been toeing only paki line in discussions about Kashmir. Successive Indian governments have never bothered to talk about PoK. If they had, we would not have got th Chinis in our land occupied by Pakis.
