How are they a failed state ?

They want to be militaristic state with less civil rights. what makes you think they dont want to be a terrorist state ?

They would only be a failed state if they were a open secular society before which they never were.

Perceptive! Stop seeing them through our standards.
Point taken! We can not measure pakistan by our own standards, as Islamic republic of pakistan a shameless client (aka mercenary) state was never upto our level (and never will be). However, if we look at simple parameters which does not require states such a Somalia, Uganda, pakistan, Rawanada et al to be at our level makes pakistan worst than Somalia and others. These parameters are Economy, Commerce, Bigotry, Indoctrination of Islamic Awam, Peace in the nation, terrorism, Civil Wars, DISINTEGRATION, Military Junta, Deep State, proliferation, International beggary, Surrender in the battle field, Delusional populous, Poverty, Crumbled civil administration and infrastructure, Health, Living in Denial etc.

Pakistan is both failed and a terrorist state, form the day it is born, it is getting deep inside the pakistaniyat. No way you can pull them out of the hell hole. They have been created for safe house of Muslims. And they ave killed more Muslims then any one else in the world.

Well, they are a definitely a failing state.. Problem is, Pakistan is also a Nuclear state. The world nations do not want a nuclear Pakistan to become a rogue terrorist state like North Korea.. So they pamper and support Pakistan, often turning a blind eye to its terrorism exports, hoping it wouldnt become a failed state..
I agree with you on this. The main concern is there nuclear arsenal and security issue in the whole of Pakistan. a country with such a mess has nuclear bomb is matter of concern.

on pampering pakistan they could be 2 reasons

1 ) USA still in Afganistan and they need pak for everything.

2) If u slap a kid and snatch his lollipop he will cry, so best is to pamper him and take his lollipop..:sad::sad:

Pak is neither a failed state nor a terrorist state
You would know, obviously.

.L-e-T and other assorted groups are strategic assest
For a paranoid deluded nation of sheep.

India coz they are freedom fighters fighting against Indian state sponsored brutality and genocide of its muslim minority in Kashmir and all over India.
Change "India" to "World" and we still won't give a shit.

we have a porki here !!! Welcome.... Hows taliban now a days ????
This one probably is a paki sympathizer but to simply call fellow indians as Pakis just because they did not agree with you on a few points is a very very bad thing to do, you should not say that even to your worst enemy here, no one deserves that. Unless you have proof you should not use that word against other people blindly. Hope you learn and understand.

well according to the article Pakistan is back to 2006 levels i.e. it was 12th, then declined to 9 spot at one point and now back to 12th...in the world. If what we see daily or weekly is considered a better status than previous past years- god help that nation...

Why is Pakistan a Failed State

Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Member of India's Rajya Sabha Mani Shankar Aiyer on Thursday praised the Pakistani government for making decisive moves towards normalising Indo-Pak trade, and hoped that the two countries could "realistically" become each other's most-favoured nations.

"History may have divided us but geography binds us, and a shared inheritance holds as much potential to keep India and Pakistan apart as it has in keeping them apart," Aiyer said at a policy discussion seminar titled, 'India and Pakistan: Retrospect and Prospect?'. The event had been organised by the Jinnah Institute.

He said that it was not communal animosity, but national hostility that keeps India and Pakistan apart. Mani Shankar Aiyer, who was a minister in India's Union Cabinet for Petroleum and Natural Gas (2004-2006), for Youth Affairs and Sports (2006-2008) and for Development of the Northern Region (2006-2009), has also served in the Indian Foreign Service for 26 years. He has also served as consul general of India in Karachi (1978-1982). "Pakistan is a modern nation-state, now under serious threat from armed religious fanatics, but it is not about to succumb as a society or as a state to elements who, even in a moderate garb, have rarely managed to win more than a tiny handful of seats in any election," he said. The Indian leader said that any strategy built on the presumption that Pakistan could not survive is misconceived, misplaced, and dangerously misleading. He also regretted the widely accepted view in Indian circles that Pakistan is a 'failed' or a 'failing' state, and said that such views needed to be countered.

"No state has suffered as much from terrorism as Pakistan itself," he said, adding, "I do believe that a joint strategy to counter terrorism will enable both India and Pakistan to overcome what is, in effect, a joint threat to our people." Aiyer concluded by saying, "Let us give peace a chance; we have nothing to lose but our chains, and we have a world to gain." His lecture was preceded by opening remarks from Aziz Ahmed Khan, honorary vice president of the Jinnah Institute and a former ambassador. He said that Indo-Pak relations had experienced many highs and lows but a leap of faith was needed to find a solution. Jinnah Institute Executive Director Ejaz Haider said that modern experiences were crucial in forming individual identities. He urged India to recognise Pakistan as a reality that would not go away. During the question-answer session, the audience asked what effect opposing mindsets had on the Indo-Pak peace process. Responding to this, Aiyer said that mindsets could change "and there is a symbiotic relationship between mindsets and ground realities, and that the narrative of hate must definitely be countered".

Aiyer was the second distinguished speaker for JI's ongoing Indo-Pak Track-II engagement titled, 'Chaophraya Dialogue'. Previously, Dr Shashi Tharoor, member of Lok Sabha and former Indian minister of state for external affairs, delivered a lecture at the Islamabad Club under the aegis of the Distinguished Speaker Series in January 2012. Among future invitees of the Distinguished Speaker Series are Prof Najib Jung, vice chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi. The Jinnah Institute is an Islamabad-based public policy think-tank that leads two institutionalised Track II processes between India and Pakistan. It was conceptualised and set up by Sherry Rehman in 2010. Sherry Rehman is now serving as Pakistan's ambassador to the United States. The institute has partnered with the Australia India Institute (AII) for the Chaophraya Dialogue. It also plans multiple interactions between policy experts and audiences on both sides of the border.

Well when they are given travelling allowances to visit Pakistan by GoP, do paid interviews for Pakistani News Channels, are provided with free 'kimma naan' and other luxuries then they are suppose to talk for them.

Mani Shankar in his gloomy days of zero attention is well justified to be less sensitive for very own Indians by telling loud that they do not know better than him about Pakistan.

Mani Shankar Aiyar has an emotional attachment with Pakistan, due to his past association with cities in that country. He is a native of Lahore.

Ok, let's agree Pakistan is not a failed state, but it is on the verge of being one.

One way to know for sure is when we end up getting nuked by some rogue element in Pakistan. We will know for sure then, but then we will already have taken a few nuclear hits. Are we willing to wait till that end?

I say pre-empt, and declare Pakistan a failed state.

It is time Mani Shankar, who calls himself the joker of the pack, looks inwards and refurbish the pack of which he is the joker.

The SC Judgement and turmoil it has unleashed and will unleash has brought doom and gloom on me this morning.

The Chief's case to be heard today, Chidambaram's fate, the repercussion on the Govt and the PM has really got me worried as to if the country has lost its bearings!

And that Kapil Sibal braying stupidly and with total irrelevance makes the whole thing appear a bit circus! The all teeth man thinks that the citizenry are fools and cannot understand the import of the SC Judgement!

No wonder he wants to gag the country and the internet so that things become business as usual and the country forced to be in the dark!

If the Govt had less of the lawyers in their Cabinet and more of politically aware people, we would have never been in such a mess as we are in today.

I saw the full interview yesterday. He was behaving like an EDIT in that long interview and not a single time he felt Pak is enemy. Strange!! When his Sardar himself said Gilani is man of peace, what one can expect from him.

Yousaf Raza Gilani a man of peace: Manmohan Singh
