US is going to learn not to support Pakistan in a very hard way at this rate when rampant terrorism keeps going on in the mainland. Obama is trying to milk a mare that has been long dead and maggots have gotten over her dead body. I don't understand what ego US has to just let go. They still think that they can tame India by flooding Pakistan with aid money, without understanding that without infrastructure, command education, discipline, research, engineering and manufacturing capabilities all this aid money would just feed Pakistan for sometime and then go away as they pass their daily nature calls.
This funding Pakistan will not get USA anywhere or even balance us. US if it has to exist as a superpower in the coming decades, has to forget its cold war mentality of "taming everyone". Despite superpower status, Soviet never forced to tame anyone and won a lot of support from newly freed colonies. Barring Communism and the blunder of Afghanistan, they were smartly following the path of being a non-bossy superpower with medium level countries. And their steadfast attitude paid off in a 60 year strong strategic cooperation with a country which US regarded as a basket case.
US has lost South Asia after supporting Islamist terror in Pakistan. Despite being on opposite end, Indians and Russians always advised them against it but they didn't choose to listen. Even if we're buying arms from US companies, we buy it from our terms and even if US gives 100 F-16s for free to Pakistan, the Pakistanis who've found a new master in China would refuse to bow down to US anymore. This "give aid and give a kick" method won't work anymore.
Pakistan's fate was sealed the day it identified itself ONLY through RELIGION and without any long term goals. It's wrongdoings will come back to it in the next 5-10 years.
