At the minimum, I am in favour of India taking control of vantage points inside PoK if hostilities begin between the US and DPRK. This is at the minimum. There are a few places where India is at a disadvantage along the LoC. If the situation permits, India should be prepared to take some territory north-west of Keran sector, at least up to Lulusar-Dudipatsar National Park so that India can disrupt their NH-15.
Actually if north Korea and US war does take place it will be huge opportunity for India to settle score with Pakistan. Not only in taking over Vantage points in POK but in sir creek too which should be taken over completely as it is oil rich. A swift action will ensure that China is kept at bay as it will be focusing on US naval movement and would like to save it's own home first before coming to rescue of Pakistan. If possible taking over of Karakoram Highway will be huge advantage which India should definitely consider even if it comes at a cost human life or monetary it should not matter.

Swift action - that is the operative word.

India should be able to achieve a fait accompli quickly. Any delay will cause the international community to put pressure on both sides. Coming to Sir Creek, that would mean opening a new front. I am not so sure it would be easy as Pakistan is certain to escalate. When it comes to PoK and BG, it is a disputed territory from the international perspective. That is where India can gain the most.

Even sir creek is disputed at several places by both.

Even if not we should take over to negotiate land taken over in POK that is we will vacate sir creek but you will have to forget Karakoram Highway and other POK points like what China does.

'Will start looking at trade relations': US warns China over North Korea

HIGHLIGHTS
  • US has become increasingly frustrated at what it sees as Beijing's failure to ensure sanctions against North Korea are fully implemented.
  • While the Trump administration has tried to enlist China's help in persuading North Korea, it has shown signs of giving up on Beijing.
WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump has made it clear to China that he will "start looking" at trade relations with the country if it did not help stop North Korea's aggressive behaviour, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said on Sunday.

Amidst indication that America may toughen stance against North Korea which recently successfully tested intercontinental ballistic missile, Haley said that there will be a response if China blocked or vetoed any move to impose additional sanctions against North Korea.

"Then I think there will be a response," Haley told CNN in an interview.

"If they don't go along with that, the President has made it clear that he will start looking at trade relations with China. So we have to see," she said.

Haley, the first Indian-American holding a cabinet rank in any US presidential administration, said that there were a lot of options on the table when it comes to dealing with China.

"Now the ball's in their court," she said.

"China has a choice to make. They're either going to go along with us and the rest of the international community and say, yes, we think that what North Korea did was wrong, or they're not," she said.

Appearing on the same talk show, former defence secretary Ashton Carter said that it is time to push China and North Korea to a corner.

"I think it's important not to take the idea of military action on the Korean Peninsula or war lightly. This is a situation in which we need to get North Korea and China in a corner, and not put our president in a corner," Carter told CNN.
