Shillong, Aug 28 (PTI) Even as combing operations were on to trace two officials of a cement company kidnapped last week, ULFA today denied its involvement in it.
"We are not involved in the kidnapping. ULFA cannot commit such a heinous act," a caller identifying himself as Gulit Das, self-styled commander of ULFA's 109 battalion, said.
He also dismissed reports that ULFA demanded Rs 20 lakh as ransom money for their release.
Virgo Cement Company manager Sambhu Dhanuka and its chief engineer P K Hore were kidnapped on Friday last by five suspected militants from near their factory at Damas in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district.
Though their vehicle was recovered at Miyapara near Assam border, hours after the incident, the duo is still missing, police said.
Intelligence sources had said ULFA had demanded Rs 20 lakh from Dhanuka and when he refused, he along with Hore were kidnapped.
