    RIP.

    Most unfortunate.

    I have flown Malaysian.

Won't say that they were very efficient.

Likewise, I don't fly Air India, for reasons that they are erratic because of the employees having that sarkari outlook that none can sack them even if they are the pits and there is no guarantee that they will fly as scheduled.

The plane went missing at the safest part of its flight - mid flight 2 hours after take off. It would have been at 10,000 meters. The last two times this sort of midflight disaster occurred were

    1. Air India flight blown up mid air off Ireland (1984?)
    2. Pan Am flight blown up over Lockerbie in Scotland (1988?)

    Flight to Beijing? Hmmm...

Besides five Indians, those on board include 152 Chinese, 38 Malaysians, 7 Indonesians, 6 Australians, 3 French, 4 including an infant from the US, 2 New Zealanders, 2 Ukrainians, 2 Canadians, 1 each from Russia, Italy, Taiwan, the Netherlands and Austria.

RIP. May God give courage and patience to the families who have lost their loved ones.

An RSAF C130 was launched earlier today for a search and locate mission for the missing aircraft.

Missing airliner carrying 239 triggers Southeast Asia search

Rescuers from several nations mounted an air and sea search Saturday for a Malaysia Airlines jet that has gone missing over Southeast Asia, with grave fears for the 239 people on board.

Vietnam authorities said contact with Flight MH370 was lost near its airspace, but its exact location and fate remained a mystery more than 14 hours after it slipped off air-traffic control screens.

China, which has 153 of its nationals on the missing plane, said it had ordered maritime patrol vessels to begin scouring the area.

Vietnam's defence ministry launched a rescue mission, the government said, and a Malaysian maritime official said the country had sent several planes and vessels.

The Philippines said it was sending three navy patrol boats and a surveillance plane. Singapore dispatched an air force C130 transporter on a "search and locate mission".

Looks like among the 5 Indians on that list, 3 are from the same family. Mom, dad, and kid. There's also one NRI (Canadian passport holder).

Yeah that makes it suspicious. But it could be a case of someone trying to get away? Impersonate ?
