No Tank is perfect but a balance of Firepower, Mobility and Armor (protection). You gain some of these attributes in order to compensate the deficiency.

While Arjun Mk 1 is good overall tank in Indian inventory offer crew comfort and mobility at western Border which is better than any Russian Tank (without modification for Indian conditions) but it lacks the essential requisites for Aomored warfare ie Firepower and the lack of protection in key Areas on the Turret.

Here i am comparing it with formidable Russian Tanks ( not cheap Chinese knock off such as Al Zarrars and MBT 2000) which are the result of decades of research and experience in Tank designs by oldest design bureaus of the world.

So the appropriate comparison of T 80U/ UD is with Arjun mk 2 (if induced) not with Arjun mk 1, although things would've been different if it was aremd with Lahat (top attack lofted trajectory) but unfortunately it failed. That's why Army ordered more T 90MS with better Gun which could fire newer APFSDS rounds (although even oldrer T 90S Bhishma already superior than anything Pakis have )

Now the best it can fire is this OFB round against well protected T 80UD which was tested against Metis , Malyukta, Konkurs and Kornet ATGM and and none of these able to penetrate it except Kornet.

To compare the combat characteristics of tanks is not quite right. It all depends on the nature of the battle. Tank duel is now a rarity. Army or militants have a large number of anti-tank weapons.

It's very much a reality in India Pak scenario but a rarity on LAC ( Chinese Border) where warfare revolves around Light infantry Arty and Light Armor due to manoeuvring restrictions.

This Ukrainian anti-missile system "Stugna-P" (export version "Skiff") for armored vehicles - referred to as "Barrier" - an analogue of the Russian ATGM "Kornet" in the caliber of 130 mm punch of 800 mm homogeneous armor plate behind ERA.

At prsent there is no country called Ukraine except on paper. Also, T 80 is Soviet legacy not Ukraine.

Come back when its mass produced and proven in Battlefield.

Haha India is a $2 billion + plus economic Giant with 50 billion Defense budget.

Do you live in occupied Sevastopol ?

Anyway, stop posting this irrelevant stuff of puny 105 mm penetrating 50 mm plate. We are talking about the scenario involving India, Pak, Chinese Armor warfare and a history of largest Tank battles after world War 2

What is your toy going to with our T 90S/M Bheeshma.

Meanwhile Arjun Mk 2 has been tested to fire Thermobaric Round to take out the Tank crew and sensitive equipment inside of Tanks including your beloved T 80UD operated by Pakis.

missile ATGM RK-3OF fragmentation - high explosive, RK-3K cumulative. It is not analogous to "Javelin", but the replacement of "Metis", which bad distinguished himself in the war in the Donbass.

The reason Russian and Ukrainian tanks went for Missiles for long range engagement is due to their poor stabilization and gunnery aspects with respect to Fire control system ..
To prove the point, Note the ' Hit Probability ' under Weapon preform ace where FRHP ( First round first hit probability ) for Arjun gun and FCS is 90% on a target size of 2.3m x 2.3m from 2000ms, Where as T-90`s is 85% chances on a target size of 3m x 3m from 1600ms ..

Western tanks don`t use Missiles but rely on their high penetration of FSAPDS rounds at longer ranges with much higher speed and crew reaction time ..

=========================

Arjun MK1 do not have Lahat nor MK2 will have Lahat but CLGM which has bigger diameter ..
