New Delhi: In what may expose Pakistan's claims that it is fully committed to its citizens,MQM – a political party in Pakistanhas supposedly written some letters to the Indian High Commission, seeking help from the mission over human rights violations in the nation, particularly in Karachi, reports claimed on Thursday.

According to popular Pakistan daily Dawn, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has written a couple of letter to the Indian mission urging them to use their offices to raise voice to safeguard human rights in Karachi and other places.

In one of the letters, signed by Member of MQM Central Coordination Committee Nasreen Jalil and addressed to Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan Dr TCA Raghavan on June 18, 2015, the party has cited the 'lawlessness of law enforcement agencies' and requested the high commission to use its good offices to improve the situation of urban Sindh.

"The targeted operation in Karachi was initiated to bring law and order in the city but since then, 40 MQM workers have been killed in custody, 90 party workers are missing while hundreds are killed in target killings. No compensation has been paid to the families of victims belonging to MQM who were killed "extra-judicially" or to those who are missing,” Dawn quoted the text of one of the letters.

The letter further slams the unchecked 'high handedness' of law enforcement agencies during the operation along with other issues in urban Sindh which, according to the letter, is giving rise to a feeling of alienation among the people of Karachi.

In another letter, dated on July 30 and signed by Arif Khan, Abdul Qadir Khanzada and Shabbir Qaimkhani, the party has highlighted the plight of MQM sympathisers.

“We have the honour to bring to your kind notice that inn workers and sympathisers of MQM have been arrested while they were going from Karachi to Hyderabad to attend a marriage ceremony on 29th July 2015. We request your honour to kindly look into this matter and raise your voice for the safeguard and protection of human values/rights particularly in Karachi,” Dawn quoted the text.
