If you talking about R-73 then it is a Air-to-Air Missile. Most AAM (including R-73 and except the newer hit-to-kill missile developed by LM for F-35)) feature proximity fuse.

So what is a proximity fuse ?
A proximity fuze is a fuze that detonates an explosive device automatically when the distance to the target becomes smaller than a predetermined value.
So a AAM like R-73 need not hit the ----ing target to score a ----ing kill.

Though DD ruined the telecast, I was alarmed by the repeated misses, there were at least 2-3 instances where the bombs didn't explode or the pilot chose to abort, the first one being that of from the Su30 and the second from a MiG-27...I think the IAF should take note..even the S-27 rockets missed targets...never seen such misses even after practice runs....

Even I expected the LCH to fire something, sadly the stub wings didn't have anything fitted apart from the smoke dispenser...the Tejas one was good though...

I dont know why they were not using target drones to show the R-73 s instead of targeting flares with a missile..its like using a RPG against a static balloon...I dont know what they expect to do with the Lakshyas...

Till I saw, only for once an MKI decided to not to drop a bomb due to some problems but it dropped on the next round, while LCA's bomb was right on the target as well as MKIs. but MKIs were doing carpet bombings.

Sir, I dont think they dropped the MKI bomb later, it was supposed to be a LGB...I presume the recently ordered ones...but how can they decide not to release the bombs...I mean all these went through several practice runs for the last few days..isn't it?

Where is our MiG 29 I didn't see him..and Wonderful show of LCH that showed what they can do in the Battlefield..I think Army should acquire LCH in 100+ Numbers in their Aviation Fleet

if they could have put LCH (folding blade) inside C-130J and with commandos they would have taken it out from C-130 to assist commandos to have flying tank to protect them, with Mig 29 giving outside protection.
