[TD="width: 662"]Totally unprepared and ill-equipped, that was the IPKF

Many critics have labelled the IPKF's role on the island as India's Vietnam. The Sri Lankan Tamils, fed on LTTE propaganda, boasted of giving the fourth largest army in the world, a bloody nose.

Maybe you also need to mention that your treacherous Lankan regime passed information and help to the LTTE on the side, playing a nice double game.

Jayawardene had joined hands with LTTE for a brief period. It was not our "Vietnam" by any stretch of the imagination.

It wasn't a double game. Sri Lankan people never wanted IPKF in our soil. It was Rajiv Gandhi who imposed it on Jayawardene government.

It wasn't Jayawardene but Premadasa. Anyhow no one wanted IPKF other than greedy tamil politicians!

Imposed??? So your leaders, including Premadasa AND Jayawardene, led India up the garden path, by pretending to "invite" the IPKF, and planning to help the LTTE launch guerrilla attacks on IPKF.

This means, your nation considers Indian Army (and by extension, India), an even greater enemy than LTTE. That is the logical conclusion I derive from your statements.

And a lot of subsequent conclusions can be drawn from this conclusion.

    What????
We never asked India to come and help to eradicate LTTE. It was your Rajiv's government that intertwined in '87 by threatening with Indian military might to bring peace to Lanka. We never led India through garden path, but Rajiv and RAW.

Also our government never considered India to our enemy. It was India who saw us as a threat.

No it was Jayawardene who signed the accord and played double game. Premadasa was President when we got our boys back home.

How can it be termed as India's Vietnam?

    1) India never came to Invade Sri Lanka.

    2) Indian's were called in to help Sri Lanka and treacherous Sinhalas.

    3) We never lost 54,000 men without any result.

    4) SL and Sinhalas sided with LTTE and gave them all possible support.

    5) Latter, when we understood the dirty Sinhala game, we left SL and allowed Sinhalas to fight rag-tag LTTE for good and allowed SLA and SL to see themselves in the mirror.

(RIGHTLY Sinhalas LOST 25% of their COUNTRY.)

    6) We all know how well SLA fared against ill-equipped LTTE for 30 years.

    7) Later again, SL BEGGED the world to HELP with money and arms to tackle LTTE.

8.) World, including India helped train half a million SLA to fight 5000 tigers. (even then it took years for SLA to Victory, what Bravery?).

    9) India even created a 'Naval Blockade' to cut supply lines of LTTE; without which SLA would have been - as usual again crushed by determined LTTE fighters.

    10) SLA and Sinhalas conducted a genocide of civilian population, claimed victory and DECLARED Allegiance To INDIA.

How is it India's Vietnam - you moron?

Yes you did. You officially asked for IPKF to come in. Now don't lie here.

If your government never considered India an enemy, why did your treacherous double-dealing leaders support the LTTE on the side, against the IPKF?

Listen - don't overestimate yourselves by thinking of yourselves as "India's Vietnam". The day India decides to invade SL with all its military might and stands against the Lankan Army, then you can try to prove yourselves as India's Vietnam. Till that happens, you are just treacherous double-dealers who supported terrorist guerrillas against the Indian Army.

In 1986, the JVP had almost captured entire South Sri Lanka and entire Sri Lankan Army was deployed against them.
LTTE had taken over the North and East.
Colombo govt was virtually under cease.
Had IPKF not been there Srilanka would have been in a different shape today. The South North devide was almost complete with govt having lost almost all control.
Had IPKF not intervened, SL security forces would have never been able to wipe out the Sinhala fundamenatlist called JVP. In stead the SL Army would have been in their Vietnam.

    This man is talking irrationally.

Who backed and patronized the whole Thimphu agreement and stuff? It was India!
Who sent helicopter to evacuate Prabha from battle front (Vettilikerni) in OP Liberation in '86? It was India!
Who forced our military campaign to destroy LTTE in '86 to stop? It was India!

So you agree that it wasn't India's Vietnam (as your poor arguments reflect your opinion). Why start a thread where you cannot defend your claims. You have trolled a lot. Now go back and wait for next LTTE, as you will not mend your ways and Tamils will soon give you an apt reply - that to soon! Till then enjoy this self-created euphoria! :)

Dude................... the whole JVP incursion occurred because of Indian intervention. It was the JVP's staging ground.

In 1986, Jafna, Vavunia, all araes North of Auradhpuara, Trincomalee and batticalao was under LTTE. You had lost everything. South was also lost to JVP. SL was in shamlbes. Bahndarnaike was almost under house arrest. Premadasa was hobnobbing with JVP to throw away Jayvardhna. Had IPKF not come the SL would be in tatters and Chinese and Pakistani warships berthed all around.

    Were you born by then?

You are certainly not a SL. The revolt of 70s by the hardcore fundamenatalist in Galle is not known to you when Indian Para Brigade had to intervene. IPKF was not the first military intervention. It is you who need to learn some history.... The JVP started after IPKF? Read some history.
