It is all good to say that ex senior officers of the Armed Forces be elected.Being in a cloistered environment, they are not known to the populace. They maybe real good and even worthy of election. But then, who would vote for an unknown face? Not all Generals are in the limelight as Gen VK Singh.
At best, they should be coopted in the Rajya Sabha, if not election material, so that there is expertise in military affairs, which is so woefully lacking.
br what you said is for sure correct

jst consider a variation upon it :- bring in the middle management or indeed whichever level is appropriate as a speciallst WITNESS or SPECIALIST OPINION - when certain issues pertainng to the topic deem it necesary or a good thing ....... as specialist TESTIMONY - when the occasion demands it - but does the indian parl have and allow that level of sophistication ?

that would be different from bringing in retd gens on a permamnent basis - after all 3 yrs having left the force and t hey are no longer cutting edge - in which case mighgt as well ask ashley j tellis ! ( and roma and ray ! )
