Indian Navy to purchase 16 US multi-role choppers for $1 bn | Zee News
Not sure if 24 is enough buy it should be supplemented by MRH.
These are anti-submarine helicopters to be carried by ships. 24 is a good number.
Navy is also buying Dhruv mounted with anti-sub sensors. These can be used from coastal bases if not from ships.
It is a pretty significant boost to anti-sub capabilities.
Dhruv for ASW role ? In my knowledge , they are being inducted for SAR roles only as of now....
Hope they give us the permission to manufacture this at a later stage. We can fulfil our requirements from within.
its 56 in total,16 in ready made and another 40 gonna be assembled in india.
aww.. This is S 70 B, not the same C 295
Also last update is the DAC cleared S 70 B deal put infront of CCS or FM ..they yet to clear the deal
Such a small order... why would they not purchase more considering the size of IN?
oh yeah, my misunderstanding,sorry,
so many deals.
There is another requirement for 123 NMRH. RFP should be out soon. @Armand2RAM
What ship class will be carrying Seahawks..................
Mostly the Kolkatha Class ( P15 A) ships and Future (P15 B) Ships, the Vishakapatinam Class
may be the future P 17 A frigates too
The RFP for this tender wanted helos with small dimensions so that even the older/smaller ships could carry it.
The RFI sent for 123 is for larger sized NMRH in the 9-12.5 tonnes class. If that happens fast enough, and if AW101/S-92 is chosen then this would naturally be deputed to the older frigate/corvettes.
