Kamov Ka-31 in flight, showing the E-801M "Oko" radar folded flat under the fuselage.

The E-810M "Oko" (Eye) is an IEEE L-Band pulse-doppler radar with a 6x1 metre planar array that
unfolds and rotates under the aircraft at 6rpm. It can detect fighter-sized targets out to about 200km and warships at 250km or more (speculative figures). This aircraft is one of the second batch of Ka-31s ordered by the Indian Navy, in service with INAS 339 "Falcons" based at Dabolim.

Hail to the King by Angad Singh | Zone 5 Aviation, on Flickr

A Westland Sea King Mk.42C approaches Rwy 26 in the evening while a SpiceJet B737 holds.

IN555 is a Mk.42C (with a Bendix radar in that little willy up front).

IN528 is a Mk.42B, minus radar and fancy intake filters.

Falcons Boss by Angad Singh | Zone 5 Aviation, on Flickr
INAS 339 "Falcons" is the Kamov Ka-31 AEW helicopter squadron of the Indian Navy. Although based at Goa, detachments from the Falcons operate of a number of IN warships to provide AEW coverage at sea.

Here, the squadron CO poses in front of one the newest Ka-31s under his command, prior to a sortie.

HAL HJT-16 Kirans IN077 and IN071 by Angad Singh | Zone 5 Aviation, on Flickr
With both Indian display teams (Surya Kiran - IAF and Sagar Pawan - IN) disbanded to conserve airframe hours on the ageing Kiran fleet, this ex-Sagar Pawan bird is now flying with INAS 551.

The Indian Navy will receive the first of its BAE Hawk trainers this year, with 17 to be based at INS Dega for future jet training.

MiG-29K IN811 from INAS 303 "Black Panthers" shows off its impressive weapons fit.

From inboard pylon to out - Kh-35 AShM (AS-20 Kayak), B8-M1 57mm 20-rd rocket pod, R-77 BVRAAM (AA-12 Adder), ECM pod (starboard pylon), ACMI pod (port pylon).

Mikoyan MiG-29KUB IN673 by Angad Singh | Zone 5 Aviation, on Flickr

Interestingly, the MiG-29KUB is all but identical (externally) to the MiG-29K. The difference is that the backseater's spot is occupied by fuel in single-seater. Probably makes for pretty streamlined production.

This Bear-F of INAS 312 "Albatross" flew daily from INS Rajali on the east coast to join the flypast because of limited ramp space at Dabolim.
