It is Rajput. It says so on the boarding walkway next to it. The Rajputs will start retiring in 2018, it 35 years old now. By 2020 only 2 Kashins will be left. Hopefully P-15B's will start getting Inducted soon.

I think Rajput have still a decade left ? If GOI planned for it's decommission in 2018 then why all these upgrade with newradar, new armament ? Possibly Rajput would only retire when all 4 P15B enter the service..not before

I think that Rajaput class has another 8-10 years of life left in them .and another new class of destroyers shoud replace them ,not P15B.

i just looked through GRSE's tenders .they posted some tenders again and again about P17A (Like for hull block fabrication, structure units fabrication, steel plate preparation etc.)
it means they didn't got proper response for tenders.?
I didn't understand why.

GSL delivers second 1000T fuel barge to Indian Navy

The Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) on Tuesday delivered second of its kind out of four series 1000 tonne fuel barge to the Indian Navy, ahead of 33 days of its contractual delivery schedule.

The induction of barge in service of Indian Navy as held by Rear Admiral Narayan Prasad, Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard Vishakhapattnam.

The Indian Navy was in need of self propelled 1000T fuel barges, with a view to fuel big ships such as INS Vikramaditya for a long time.

The contract for construction of 4 x 1000T fuel barges was signed between GSL and Indian Navy on June 4, 2015.
GSL delivered the first 1000T fuel barge on August 17, as per the contractual schedule.

The 1000T fuel barge has primary role of replenishing LSHSD, AVCAT and other oils for ships in harbor, at anchorage and even at distant location and is powered with two 1800 BHP engines, two 250KVA generators and five cargo pumps with a capacity of 100T per hour to achieve the main role of fuel transfer.

The barge is over 68 meters in length, 12 meters in beam and can attain a maximum speed of 14 knots with an endurance of 800 nautical miles.

The vessel has a novel hull design with bulbous bow and equipped with the state of art navigational aids such as radar, DGPS, echo sounder etc, making it capable to operate in sea state 4 and survivability upto extreme sea state of 6.

Modern tools and techniques such software simulation and model testing have been used for the refinement of the design before construction.

This vessel has a compliment of 26 persons and is fitted with best of the class modular accommodation, providing better living space and comfort to ship crew.

The chairman and managing director GSL Rear Admiral (retd) Shekhar Mital in his message has complemented local industry of Goa which was actively involved in the project.

No rajput retirement before P 15B induction.

Is there any development on the eastern seaboard with respect to Andamans getting a separate fleet, as many security analysts have suggested that it is the need of the hour to plan for such endeavour and use these island chains as bases for a new fleet to operate in western Pacific sphere to increase Indian presence in Chinese so called backyard and to honour our commitments as strategic partners of Vietnam and Japan ....

I actually meant South China Sea, as far as I know we don't have problem with south East Asian nations as is evident by the fact that they allowed us into malacca patrol group

There are a couple of LSTs and OPVs at Port Blair. But a few Talwars would be better in the long run. They need to develop port infrastructure faster though. Floating Docks many not be sufficient. Is the water not deep enough for bigger ships at port blair ?

They didn't allow india to patrol malacca. India is patrolling near andaman nicobar islands in the international seas. Moreover, Singapore is quite close with India as it also shares insecurities due to Muslim countries.

You are mistaking Malacca for private sea. It is an international strait. It is shared by countries of Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. No one country can exercise control unilaterally

PS- Indonesia had offered to acquire Andaman Islands from india in 1971 war. So, don't call them friendly countries.

India has started to set up a repair and refurbishment depot in Andaman recently. So, the docks do seem to be deep enough. Also, considering military needs, some areas will be artificially dug out while some areas artificially filled to create harbour. India can station its aircraft carriers in Andaman ports.

PS- There are multiple ports and airstrips in Andaman Nicobar Island. The islands are in dozens of number and stretched by 800km.

Is Aridhaman renamed as Arighat?
Why India Today reported it as second and not third?
1) either name has been changed
2) Arihant will be like just a test bed, hence after Aridhaman,Arighat 2nd?
3) 2nd in Aridhaman class?
4) Somehow, Aridhaman isn't launched at all and Arighat is launched before it

What actually happened?
Some said Aridhaman is already in sea trials... Then how can it is "relaunched"?

"Arighat" still "second" is confusing me....
