THIS BAD SAGA IS OVER.

India's top army brass understood there was no serious effets.
At such a level they even decided to move positively on Rafale deal.... (ie they trust in French products and french manufacturers).

I am afraid the damage has been done. The nature of released documents has exposed many secrets. Indian naval authorities are rightly infuriated on this episode. The Scorpene was to become a major part of their naval armada but now with most of its features and technologies exposed to the world, it is no longer a safe bet.

Secret data on Indian Navy's Scorpene-class submarines leaked. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has sought a report from the Indian Navy chief on the leak of thousands of pages. The Australian has said it has accessed 22,400 leaked pages, marked "Restricted Scorpene India".
India and France are building combat Scorpene-class submarines being built in India. The total cost of this project is approx 3.5-billion-dollar.

The contract for Rafale fighters is a clear signal that there is no confidentiality problem between France and India.
So I think a follow on order for some more Scorpene is possible.

The submarine fleet doesn't have time for anything else. The money, infrastructure and training to start a new production line would take so long the only submarines that would be left in service would be Scorpene.

You are wrong. Australia will never share with a country like China. But yes, China however would have got those leaked documents by its 24x7 hackers.

Thing is the leaked document is never online..it is contained in a disk..those journalists put a few things on online with blurring anything that's important

There is no link between Dassault and DCNS ...Rafale negotiation was going on for years and it is just been concluded...

Unless France / DCNS comes out with the actual damage they have caused to Indian Navy... there is no scope of follow-up orders... Russians or probably Germans are laughing at you...

What did he do with the disk then? He was to submit it to an Australian newspaper media. But Australian court ordered not to expose it. Where is the disk now? It should be handed to IN as it is highly classified property of Indian Govt.

wishful thinking !!

Russians can come up with their Amur 1650 customized to Indian needs... So do the Germans with U2214 / U216 ... better to wait than go for French follow on orders...

French has earned a bad name though these leaks ... no more Scorpene

It would take 5 years to set it up and another 5 years to decide to do it. The fleet doesn't have that long. The leaked specs were pre-2005. They are not even in use in the current design.

AMUR like LADA is a failure.
U214? it would take 10 years to conclude a deal. No Way.

I'm sure another Scorpene will follow. Just a question of months.
