Intelligence Bureau: Militants in Kashmir Valley just 200, time to strike

The Intelligence Bureau says in a new report that the number of militants operating in the Kashmir Valley has dropped to around 200 — one of the biggest drops since militancy erupted there two decades ago.
The Intelligence Bureau suggested that the time was right to launch a massive offensive against the remaining militants in the Valley.
“We feel if sustained pressure is mounted at this point, it will break the back of militancy in the Valley. One will see many more operations by security forces in the days to come,” an IB official said. The government reviewed the overall security situation in Kashmir following this report.
Normally, there are around 1,500 militants operating in the Valley at any given point. “There can be a minor fluctuation in this figure. But if there is any major drop, more militants are sent from across the border,” the official noted.

The numbers doesn't seem to be inclusive of militants from J&K.May be inclusive of only men from POK and other foreign merceneries

    • How come the numbers are now lowest since 2 decades? How India managed that? A success of soft policy?
    • Instead of massive strike, can we employ tactic to deprive them of the resources while continuing combing operations?

there were reports of 700 militants waiting to cross over to India back in summers. but Ia did good job killing hundreds on their way. without supplies the no are going down.

no. soft policy cant help improve relations between India and pakistan even if it brings Indians and pakistanis come closer. the head of pakistan is army chief who's profession is war against India so he cant go away from battlefield and considering his influence over the state politics of course pakistan will be sticking to war hysteria for long.

this is the time to delay the relaxation of AFSPA because then it will be illegal for army to do pre-emptive combing and have to wait fro them to do some bad stuff like kidnapping and explosion. stick to afspa for 6 months to one year and then see the fruits of militant free J&K
