If you put a thought behind it, if more MMRCA are ordered then the price of the planes drops yes?
And in that event, this request for sanction of more squadron does seem to be interesting, say getting about twice the nos as originally wanted (abt 378) Surely if you ask IAF they are not of the opinion to order more Tejas

The way of the IAF should be as follows

MiG-21 and MiG-27 == To be replaced by Tejas
Jaguars & Mirage 2000 == To be replaced by Tejas and Su-30 MKI
Su-30 MKI + MiG-29 and MiG-29K == In future to be replaced by AMCA
PAKFA/FGFA becomes the primary Air Dominance plane replacing Su-30 MKI in the role and that puts Su-30 MKI as the plane that can be used as truly MRCA (Deep strike and Air dominance)

Since India has its investments in Tejas FGFA and AMCA, it would be best to cancel RFP of MMRCA as then we shall end up having plane that is good bu that does not bring us knowledge.

Based on different stages of whats happening, if there is a project that has to go then its AMCA but then the problem is that AMCA is our future project and hence we risk to give up being super power.

Actually Mig27 would be replaced by more Su-30MKI. There are 79 Mig27s left , while about 72 Su-30MKIs left to be delievered.
Mig21s by Tejas. There are 200 odd Mig21s left.
FGFA could work on increasing the squadron size and/or replace Jaguars in the future.
Mig29s and Mirage 2000 by AMCA, yes.
There's no plan to retire Su-30MKIs right now.

They wanna use the MMRCA as well to retire the Mig21s, but like u said, India needs to invest well in Tejas mk2, FGFA and AMCA. IF all the money goes into a foreign 4.5th gen aircaft, you can expect AMCA work to go slow due to the lack of funds.

The number of MMRCA can only drop due to delays. There is no chance of going up. Even if the government concludes a deal in the next year or so, India will get at most four squadrons by 2025.

Jaguar can pull on through 2030 by changing the engine. So let us think of keeping the Jaguar fleet.
Nobody is thinking of retiring Su-30 before 2040. Su-30 are still being delivered. Since massive investment has been made in local manufacturing of Su-30, I see more Su-30 delivered through 2025 at least. An extra 3-4 squadrons are VERY LIKELY.

IAF has a short-cut of buying Mig-29SMT (3-4 squadrons) for beefing up numbers for the Western front.
