The Bangalore-headquartered Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), on Monday, said it will develop certain critical electronic systems for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. This is part of an agreement to enhance the indigenous content of the BrahMos programme.

    Lond-term partnership

According to a statement by HAL, it forged a partnership for the long-term support of all variants of the supersonic BrahMos cruise missile with the joint venture company created by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Russian NPO Agency, called BrahMos.

“The partnership was forged following a meeting between the HAL and the BrahMos in Hyderabad on Monday,” a HAL spokesman said.

HAL will instal and augment the required facilities with the technical support of a DRDO establishment–– the Research Center Imarat.

“This will help us meet the current and future programme expectations,” explained HAL Chairman R?K Tyagi.

Would this lead to modification to Brahmos? Maybe even increase in range?
