1. 15% is the norm? How much Dassault extracted from the hapless Qatar for 24 Rafales? It is a well-kept secret. Qatar had to borrow money from a Japanese consortium of banks to pay the advance. In case of India also, this has been kept secret. Not only that, other key conditionalities of the deal like projects under offset have not been made public. I learnt separate agreements with Safran, Thales, Snecma, Sagem etc. have not been signed.
2. French govt did not give sovereign or bank guarantee in behalf of Dassault, if the company wilfully defaults.
3. Everything has a beginning. If the company did not fleece it's customer in the past, that doesn't mean it will not do so in future. Even a thief by profession has a beginning in his career.
1) If it is a secret, why do you say it's 30% ?
2) No need of a bank garantee because it's not a deal between Dassault and India, but between France aand India. Be sure your Defense minister asked a garantee if it was usefull (he bargained until so many months, he could wait another more weeks to have it.... but it was useless)
3) Don't be paranoid ! India was, is and will be a big customer for Dassault. And remember : it's a Government to Government agreement.

There is no way, F-18ASH costs anywhere near the Rafale, we are looking at tops $120 million tops including all the costs.
Rafale costs 30% more than SH18. It's true. But it is more effective. It's what India think. If not it was better to purchase SH18.

And you will never have to ask for the key during a crisis for the Rafale. It's not the case for every US plane !

You just forget two things (linked all together) :

If you add some costs to the Rafale unit price to arrived to 145 USD milions, please DO THE SAME WITH SH18 !!!!
SH18 also need some accomodation :
- add an IRST,
- add specific (and more) developpments (because SH failed in the MMRCA trials where Rafale and EF succeed).
- add bases accomodations,

SO OR YOU COMPARE DRY PRICE OF THE TOO BIRDS OR YOU COMPARE SAME CHARGED COSTS, buit please not a charged Rafale price with a dry SH one !

If you don't understand something, ask, instead of saying it's gibberish o_O

NEW DELHI: French fighter Rafale has been knocked out of the race for the 'mother of all defence deals', the Rs 42,000 crore project to acquire 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) for IAF, leaving five jets in the fray now.

Defence ministry (MoD) sources on Thursday said Rafale had 'fallen short' on 'several counts' listed in the GSQRs (general staff qualitative requirements) drawn up by IAF. "It did not pass muster in the technical evaluation of the bids submitted by the six contenders," said a source......

Aviation Firms Compete To Set Up Assembly Line In India

A Boeing F/A-18 "Super Hornet", twin-engine carrier capable fighter

Last week, the government wrote to some of the aviation majors seeking their opinion about relocating their assembly lines to India, sources told DH. The exact nature of the communication, however, remains unknown.
It’s not yet official but a behind-the-scene competition has begun among the world’s top aviation firms to convince the NDA government about the superiority of their fighter jets as the Defence Ministry explores the possibility of having a combat aircraft assembly line in India.
Last week, the government wrote to some of the aviation majors seeking their opinion about relocating their assembly lines to India, sources told DH. The exact nature of the communication, however, remains unknown.
An indication came from Indian Air Force chief Arup Raha about a week ago when he said that the government and the IAF were talking about having a fighter aircraft production line in India with technology transfer.
“The offers are on the table. We will have to see who gives us the best deal,” Raha stated in his annual media interaction ahead of the Air Force Day.
In August, Lockheed Martin proposed to shift its F-16 production line to India in partnership with a local company. Its competitor Boeing, too, offered moving its F/A-18 Super Hornet production line whereas Swedish firm Saab proposed to bring its Gripen-E for production in India.
A fighter jet assembly line on the Indian soil is being thought of because of the IAF’s depleting squadron strength as most of MiG-21 and MiG-27 aircraft would be phased out within a few years.
Though the government has inked an agreement with French major Dassault Aviation to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets, the squadron numbers are far too low for the comfort of the IAF.
