generally speaking it is a very peaceful place,isolated incidents happened some years back,but now it has long quieted down.

Want to know China,come to Beijing or go to Xian.

Thanks sure if i get a chance i will visit beijing , Xian & Tibet

But Shanghai is a business centre similar to Mumbai so the life their is very commercial

But Shanghai was very clean & pollution less city & impressive sky scrappers , Yuan garden etc

In order to know China in depth u'd better go to smaller places.

For your health u may delete Beijing and add coastal Xiamen.

For culture, Xi'an is good (apart from terra cotta, its Shaanxi Museum is a must-go though most tourist agencies skip it and also Muslim district for cuisine). Additionally Chengdu for a cozy life.

For pluralism, fly to Urumqi where u'll find bazaars and mosques. Like a KMT official said in 1940s "if u haven't been Xinjiang u don't know how vast China is. if u haven't been Xinjiang u don't know how miserable China is".

Yes ur right even i would like to visit villages in China ,& want to compare how the facilities are better than indian village or similar . Cities like Shanghai , Mumbai etc will have top class facility because of commercial intrest . But real deal like culture , trust , truth is in remote place

Intresting isin't it India & China are sworn enemies no doubt , but trade between two countries is booming day by day

I wish we settle our border issue & get back to normal , by not giving any chance to western powers to take advantage of rift :thumb:

There are youth hotels/ hostels in Xinjiang.

That is the cheapest.

Language maybe an issue, but there are guides.

Those who are used to "Indian Chinese" food, will find Chinese food bland.

China is a non vegetarian's delight., though one has to be careful what one eats because it is not always similar to what we eat in India.

Shanghai now has some places which are vegetarian.

But a visit to China is a must and that too quickly before it is becomes too commercialised and westernised.

One can never forget those lovely hutongs.

Shanghai is nothing,not worth visiting,it has long passed its heydays when Jiang core was in power,now that city is among the slowest growth places in China.

I m in Beijing and now Beijing's weather is great.most rich people and powerful people live in Beijing,not Shanghai,not Xiamen.you think they don't care about their healthy?

Go to Chengdu's villages pls where I had some fun. Sichuan people are the most hedonic I met.

Chengdu has a colourful history and so you could bone up on that.

The Shu Kingdom was subsumed by the Qin State. At this point, a new city was built and was an early form of present-day Chengdu.

Before 316 BC the Sichuan Basin was isolated from what was then China, which was centered in the Yellow River basin to the northeast.

Some western powers are always like to make some disputes for other nations , especially the developing coutries. why can't this developing countries left those historical problem as before and pay more efforts to develope their economy to their peoples' elevate the living standards ?
