Right , KUKU , I second you on that , the Time Frame (2009-2020)= 11 Years is too optimistic for a nation which has no experience on building Aircraft Carriers, to build 4 Aircraft Carriers including 2 N-power ones, in 11 years is highly unrealistic.

has this been posted before:

The Chinese nuclear tests, 1964–1996

In 1982 China's premier Deng Xiaoping began the transfer of nuclear weapons technology to Pakistan and, in time, to other third world countries. Those transfers included blueprints for the ultrasimple CHIC-4 design using highly enriched uranium, first tested by China in 1966.
A Pakistani derivative of CHIC-4 apparently was tested in China on 26 May 1990.

India-China face-off worsens over ADB loan for Arunachal

India and China are headed for a major confrontation in the Asian Development Bank with Beijing digging its heels in and not giving its consent to the $2.9-billion India development plan unless the mention of Arunachal Pradesh is removed from the document.

A sum of $60 million is marked for a watershed development project, including flood management, for Arunachal Pradesh.
...

The Bank has asked India to resolve the matter bilaterally provoking a strong reaction from New Delhi. While a board meeting has been scheduled for June 2, India has let it be known that it would rather withdraw the entire plan than remove Arunachal Pradesh for the sake of financial approval.

...
It’s learnt that India has asked the ADB not to indulge China on bilateral issues. In the run-up to the June 2 meeting, India will look to lobby hard with other board members to ensure that the Chinese objection is overruled. If the conflict isn’t resolved, official sources said, the government may look for alternative funding.

World Bulletin [ China warns army against waste, ill-discipline ]

China warns army against waste, ill-discipline
Beijing is usually tight-lipped about problems in the army which has enjoyed rapidly rising budgets in recent years.
Monday, 18 May 2009 07:45

Chinese President Hu Jintao has warned People's Liberation Army officers to stick to Communist Party values and stop squandering money, in an unusually frank attack on ill-discipline in the growing military.

The warning came in a directive approved by Hu from the Central Military Commission, which ensures the ruling Communist Party's control of the PLA, and told top-ranking officers not to stray politically.

"Confronted with increasingly intense and complex circumstances in the sphere of ideological struggle, senior and middle-ranking officers must be staunch in their ideals and beliefs, always remaining politically clear-headed," said the directive, quoted in the official People's Daily on Monday.

Beijing is usually tight-lipped about problems in the PLA, which has enjoyed rapidly rising budgets in recent years, and this document did not specify any military scandals or problems that may have riled Hu and his commanders.

But it made plain the Party leadership is worried that not all its extra spending on defence modernisation is being used as intended.

A PLA navy vice admiral was executed for corruption after he was arrested in 2006 for taking millions of dollars in payoffs from developers. Around the Chinese capital, many high-end cars display military number plates, often parked in front of expensive shops and restaurants.

"Strictly abide by and protect Party discipline, and vigorously address the problem of orders not being enforced and bans not implemented," the directive said. "Vigorously address the problems of extravagance and waste and of selfish pleasure-seeking."

China's defence spending has risen in recent years as it seeks to turn a bloated and outdated force into a high-tech military able to project power well beyond its borders.

This year's official military budget will grow to 480.7 billion yuan ($70 billion), a 14.9 percent rise over last year.

Strengthened accountability rules and inspections will be introduced to scrutinise PLA officers, said the document. It follows stricter auditing rules announced last September.

Last Tiananmen Square ‘hooligan’ freed after 20 years - Times Online

This is Chinese freedom :)

The last known prisoner jailed for “hooliganism” during the student-led demonstrations in Tiananmen Square has been released after 20 years in prison, a human rights group said.

But about 30 others remain in jail for their roles in the pro-democracy movement that was brutally crushed by Chinese troops and tanks in June 1989.
Mr Liu was the last known prisoner still serving a sentence for hooliganism, according to the Dui Hua Foundation. His whereabouts are unknown. He is banned from leaving his home town without permission and from speaking to journalists for five years. The foundation estimated that 30 or so men were still behind bars for their involvement in the protest. It was difficult to know just how many people might still be in prison because some cases might never have been made public.

Mother told not to honour son

China has banned the most prominent mother of a teenager killed in the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown from commemorating his death in public.

Ding Zilin, whose 17-year-old son was shot through the heart as the army entered Beijing on the night of June 3-4, has been told to leave Beijing until after the 20th anniversary of the suppression of the democracy movement. “I have refused,” she said. “There will be a fight.”

Other mothers were allowed to hold a ceremony in memory of youths killed when troops, backed by tanks, entered Tiananmen Square.

Maybe China will soon have its own .......Aircraft Carrier

It will take atleast 6 years to fully build and induct it. Probably after we have built 2.
I wonder what has China planned for as its carrier fighter.

Su-33 is out of the race, the Russians won't give it(atleast as of now). Perhaps a Navalized J-10.

That's not the point. Building a VLCC or ULCC with 300000DWT or more is very, very, very easy compared to building a 60000DWT Aircraft Carrier. It will take a year or 2 to make the keel itself. Then a year or 2 to make the entire body. Then 2 to 3 years of sea testing. All this requires very special grades of steel. Also you have to make it unsinkable. Else a single Harpoon will take out your ship.

You don't want your carrier to fall apart because your Admiral sneezed do you?

The 6 year figure is also modest.

well, it seems that you still don't understand the work-style of PLA....

when PLA declares something to be done, the thing must have been finished 50% at least....

PLA did with J10,so will PLA with AC.

don't forget when PLA acknowledge J10 officially, several regiments of J10 had entered into service.

It's called the Iron Curtain of the communist way of doing things. You can't hide the construction of an Aircraft Carrier like you did for the J-10. Also, at that time, everybody knew J-10 was being built. It's just that the pictures came after induction.
