Chinese military research academy praises India's Arjun tank

BEIJING: India's indigenous main battle tank Arjun was today praised by a top Chinese military official who said it is "very good" for Indian conditions as the PLA for the first time opened its facilities for Indian media to provide an insight into its massive modernisation.

In a sign of improved military relations, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) opened the doors of the key military institute -- Academy of Armoured Forces Engineering -- which trains over 6,000 cadets per year to th ..

Fire some of the generals who are standing in the way of Arjun induction. Make an example of these General's to others who will follow them that dishonest behaviour together with corrupt money making reason to prevent Indian built equipment in the army is a past history.

It is a typical Chinese diplomatic answer which means "it is up to yourselves to decide whether this tank is good or not".

Stop making a fool of yourself.

That Chinese was just a Colonel - too far from nuanced politicking and too near operations and that too of the most evolved kind where the PLA itself is directly involved in rearing new engineering talent. Most likely he gave an honest answer to a dishonest question put up for dishonest reasons.

Indian Media is a sell out mostly. Just today morning there is a video 'leaked' showing how chinese trained insurgents are doing well in Myanmar. Somebody must have told them to ask this question and focus the attention on the Indian Army's reluctance or active sabotage of India's own MBT. Thus taking the sheen out of the recent operation.

But to say that a guy in-charge of engineering training would not know/understand the data already in public through hundreds of means is idiocy. He is expected to know how well his current MBTs would perform against the Arjun should PLA be called upon to serve as 'advisors' inside Pakistan.

PRC might have a point in praising the Arjun. If this scares the Pakistanis, they might buy more Chinese tanks. However, can Pakistan afford new tanks, or will PRC have to finance part of it?

Another thing is to take it at its face value, and that the Chinese are simply being honest in their opinion.

This time I jumped the gun and pasted an Arjun pic thinking it was Chinese tank. Till I counted the wheels and figured the tank looked too much like Arjun.

Wow, seems like I stepped on your feet!
For god sake, he was deputy commander who was with foreign journalist, which means he is the one in charge of political activities of this academy! Diplomatic speaking is part of his training!
Also, that is not the Chinese way of "praising"!
You are not Chinese! I am!
You know shit about PLA system! I do!

The last Indian weapon Chinese would worry about is Indian MBT! It is highly unlikely they face these weapons in the near future.

But to say that a guy in-charge of engineering training would not know/understand the data already in public through hundreds of means is idiocy. He is expected to know how well his current MBTs would perform against the Arjun should PLA be called upon to serve as 'advisors' inside Pakistan.
He is a political officer who is not in charge of engineering training. Yes, he should know something about Arjun, but he IS NOT EXPECTED TO GIVE YOU THE HONEST ANSWER!

No, Pakistan knows far better about Indian weapon than Chinese. We are relying upon them to get information.

Another thing is to take it at its face value, and that the Chinese are simply being honest in their opinion.
Or he is simply being polite! Do notice his words "in India condition"! Generally I only saw them use this kind of words, such as " in our condition", "under our circumstance" to present some Chinese craps!
If someone asks you about his wife, what else you are supposed to say?
