Chinese military presence in the tibeten autonomous region, the 1.2 million square kilo meter area bordering india, is quite pedestrian by any standards. No heavy armour, no combat aircrafts, no offiensive missile units, only 2 or 3 mountain infantry brigades and some very lightly armed PAP units totaling no more than 100000 men, that's about all there is. This stands in sterk contrast with india which has about 300000 troops, armed to the teeth (Bofors gun, Su30MKI, Mig27, T-72, etc), deployed in the border region.

Don't understand where all this paranoia about an imminent chinese invasion comes from? If anything its we chinese who should be worried.
you Chinese are sly as a fox. And we know that better than others.

Agni-II missile to be deployed near China border?

India [ Images ] is considering deploying its nuclear-capable ballistic missiles in the North-East close to its border with China in an apparent attempt to enhance its military preparedness.

The move comes close on the release of a report by Pentagon [ Images ], which suggested that China has moved its new advanced longer range CSS-5 missiles close to its border with India and developed contingency plans to shift airborne forces to the region at short notice.

Why we should worry about China's defence budget

The government is considering the deployment of the 2,000 km range Agni-II and 350 km range Prithvi III surface-to-surface ballistic missiles close to the Chinese border, Defence Ministry sources said in New Delhi [ Images ].

The sources said that additional land was being procured by the Army in North-West Bengal and adjoining states for deployment of these missiles.

In the recent months, India is focussed on upgrading its military infrastructure in the North-Eastern sector to counter any Chinese threat.

The measures taken by the government include the deployment of two squadrons of the Su-30 MKI fighter jets in Tezpur and Chhabua in Assam and raising of two mountain divisions for deployment in Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining areas.

The government also revised its old military doctrine of not developing roads along the border and is working on developing over 70 strategic roads on the Sino-Indian border.

Seems like a response for China's deployment of ccs-5 missiles as reported by Pentagon. Muscle flexing already started.

India is going to deploy 2 divisions of troops. Down the line increase the Su-30 mki squadron and also install m777 howitzers on the indo china border. China will surely respond or react on this.

lot of places in north east to make secret tunnel to house Agni series of missile. Therefore we should start making those tunnels if not made already and start putting Agni series of missile there.

We should move Pinaka and smerches to that region. Chinese are enemies with everyone of their neighbors go along with US plan of spreading them thin and surrouding and them work with other chinese neighboring countries towards this.

China deploys 11,000 troops in Gilgit area in Occupied Kashmir

In a quiet move, China has deployed about 11,000 troops in the strategic Gilgit-Baltistan region in the Occupied Kashmir to take de-facto control of the key area, where a rebellion is simmering against the Pakistani rule.

The New York Times said that there were two important new developments in Gilgit-Baltistan; a simmering rebellion against the Pakistani rule and the influx of an estimated 7,000 to 11,000 soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in the area, which is closed to the world.

"China wants a grip on the strategic area to assure unfettered road and rail access to the Gulf through Pakistan", the paper said, and for this purpose is building high-speed rail and road link.

The link up would enable Beijing to transport cargo and oil tankers from eastern China to the new Chinese built Pakistani Naval base at Gawadar, Pasni and Ormara in Balochistan, just east of the Gulf in 48 hours.

"Many of the PLA soldiers entering Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to work on the railroad. Some are extending the Karakoram Highway, built to link China's Xinjiang province with Pakistan. Others are working on dams, expressways and other project," the paper said.

It said that mystery surrounds the construction of 22 tunnels in secret locations, where even Pakistanis are barred.

Tunnels would be necessary for a projected gas pipeline from Iran to China that would cross the Karakorams through Gilgit.

"But they could be also used for missiles storage sites," the Times said.

So far, the paper quoting foreign intelligence sources, Pakistani media and Pakistani Human Rights groups, said the PLA construction crews had been living in temporary encampments and went home after completing their assignments. But now they are building a big residential complex, clearly designed for a long term presence, and the New York Times said what is happening in the region is a matter of concern for Washington.

Our media is not sleeping but deliberately downplaying these reports. When it concerns Pakistan the Indian media shows a lot of hue and cry. When it comes to China the Indian media strangely behaves like "AAAl IZZZZ Welll"!! Perhaps they are timid than they appear.
