Centre approves proposal for Sanskrit University in Deoghar

    New Delhi, Feb. 6: The Government of India has given its approval for establishing a Sanskrit University in Deoghar.

    The decision to the effect was taken at a high level meeting in presence of Union HRD minister Smriti Irani and Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das in New Delhi on Saturday.

    The high level meeting at Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi was attended by Irani, Das, Jharkhand higher and technical education minister of Jharkhand Neera Yadav, Union HRD secretary and senior officials from the Centre as well as the state.

    The meeting approved various important proposals related to educational reforms in the state.

    Centre assured the state of all possible assistance for improving the education standard in Jharkhand. After his meeting with Union HRD minister, Das said that the meeting was highly satisfactory as Jharkhand received many benefits, including formation of Sanskrit University in Deoghar as well as commencing IIT classes from this session itself at ISM Dhanbad.

    Neera Yadav said that the demand for Sanskrit University was being made for a long time and that she was grateful to the Centre for giving its approval to the long awaited demand.
