The White haired ex Diplomat and the Editor of Hindu dabble in the esoteric realm and are fear crazed.

Sheru Thapliyal who was the GOC 3 Div is hardly given a chance.

probably not.

but there is no need to be enemies either.
For your reference - What I wrote - key words: Population, Lebensraum

What's needed is to maintain COLD PEACE with all that diplomatic parlance.

The confrontation btwn India and China is far more deep-rooted than the border disputes. India is bound to overtake China in population, then even more mouths to feed than China, now already with 1200mln of Indians! Like I said, being the most populous countries, endlessly fighting for scarce resources worldwide, fighting for water (Yarlung Zangbo), fighting for clout among South Asian peers... In one word Lebensraum!

In contrast underneath the seeming tug-of-war China and US (pop. 313mln. with the similar landmass to China) can be amigo-amigo thanks to inter-dependence in trade, and G2 gung-ho in world affairs.
Malthusian catastrophe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The power of population is so superior to the power of the earth to produce subsistence for man, that premature death must in some shape or other visit the human race. The vices of mankind are active and able ministers of depopulation. They are the precursors in the great army of destruction, and often finish the dreadful work themselves. But should they fail in this war of extermination, sickly seasons, epidemics, pestilence, and plague advance in terrific array, and sweep off their thousands and tens of thousands. Should success be still incomplete, gigantic inevitable famine stalks in the rear, and with one mighty blow levels the population with the food of the world.
—Malthus T.R. 1798. An essay on the principle of population. Chapter VII, p61[1]

China will always be an enemy of India as long as it occupies her lands.

India will always be an enemy of China as long it claims lands which are not hers.

See how such statements are always subjective?

As long as China and Pakistan are friends and allies ; India will never ever trust China

And If China really wants to instill trust Then the border problem must be settled on India's terms :namaste:

The following points can make us friends.

1. When china leaves our occupied lands.
2. When china becomes Democracy.
3. When china stops insurgency in NE & other parts of India.

PRC...A democracy?
Thats a joke.. They fear freedom. They try to keep control over all the parameters. The world is watching how much longer a couple of people inside PRC can keep it under check and for how long in this ever shrinkin world

But Tibet is not China.

Heard the facts given by the Tibetan, Tenzin, in the video of the TV Debate?

Unfortunately, every country acknowledge that Tibet is a part of China.
There are some kashmir people openly claim they don't want to be part of India, so what?

If Tibetans are Chinese, then I am Seleucus Nicator!

Tibetan are not Chinese, neither are Uighurs Chinese. India does not share a border with China. India shares a border with Tibet and East Turkestan.

The treachery with which Mao Zedong took control of Tibet, and the conspiracy that Mao and Stalin hatched to get Uighur leaders killed in a plane crash, does not make China a very trustworthy country. Nikita Khruschyov saw the two faced moster that Mao was, and rightly sidelined him.

Chinese land grabbing of Tibet itself made China very unpopular in India, and the subsequent building of a road through Aksai Chin was the beginning of hostilities. Propping up Pakistan has only made matters so putrid that it will take generations for India to trust China, if ever.

Personally, I do respect and admire the Chinese civilization, and its numerous contributions. Unfortunately, as long as the current People's Republic of China and the Taiwan Republic of China continue to claim Indian land, India will not be friends with either regime.

What is China?

India and China cannot be friends at least I do not see that in my lifetime... say in next 35 - 40 years

The pragmatic Chinese leadership has rightly identified India as a main enemy along with Japan in Asia...

China not only occupied TIBET illegally but just to destabilized & counter India has acted so irresponsibly by giving clandestine Nuclear & Missile technology to Pakistan just only to counter India...

India understands China's motives very well and will act accordingly in very bear future...

That's the part I fully agree to. Pls read post #4 -- the fight will not be on borders, but on WATER, RESOURCES...

A country of 1.2bln perhaps 1.4bln in a decade. That's not gonna be a friend but a threat, highly unsustainable ecologically!!

Well it's your interpretation...

India distrust China and it believes China is not comfortable with any one challenging her at its door steps... China has not yet recovered from its shame from WW-II"¦ It is very insecure and do not have any friends either except terrorist state of Pakistan and a rogue state of North Korea"¦

But un fortunately India will give hard time to China in times to come... India does not have the habit to excuse one's who have done harm to her"¦
