Can't afford 3000-4000 missiles of ~$3 million each. Precisely why Nirbhay was initiated. At $0.5 million each (according to Saurav Jha) you can fill up the inventory as much you like.

Also keep in mind that LACMs need a ton of support vehicles and associated manpower.
My bad, read that in a hurry. Very long range cruise missiles are not particularly useful from Indian perspective. None of our enemies live an ocean away and expecting a cruise missile to fly 3000 km into Chinese airspace and not being shot down is wishful thinking at best.
Air launched version or deployed on guided missile destroyers.
Our enemies don't live much but their bases are.

We can't take our Su-mki with brahmos inside the territory of China whatever launch should be launched from outside, the inland of our country. in that case we can deploy land based missiles in the border itself for that job. Delivering brahmos with aircraft will serve better to neutralize sea based threats. Sukhoi is not stealth aircraft so the idea of delivering Brahmos might be a good one if it is done by PAK FA. equipping air launched Brahmos on Sukhoi MKI might be a good platform to test and equip it on PAK FA for future land attacks

What makes you think Su-30MKI cannot go inside China?
Forget the MKI, Jaguar squadrons practice for deep raids into China.

The air launched Brahmos is in fact a potent platform to take down the air defence belt system of Chinese S-300 copies china has posted against the IAF.
Once a BIG BIRD surveillance radar and its ancillary support is down, it creates a gap in the air defence bubble through which strikes can go through.

I can almost measure exact angle.........lol

Even tried, but not posting it.

Few years ago got screen shot of Block 3 drive graphic, but its too important to post it.

Pindi got 3 targets for block 3, all 14 floor down.

Get ready.

What is probability of making a 3,000-4,000 kms strategic cruise missile (may be air launched)?
Soviets and Chinese, both had those.
IMHO, it is better to pour funds into a hypersonic glide weapon. I believe we can create one by the time it will take us to create an air-launched LRCM.

Like he said:-
expecting a cruise missile to fly 3000 km into Chinese airspace and not being shot down is wishful thinking at best.
We might be better off creating a cruise weapon that actually has a chance of making it into mainland China. Although, a hypersonic glide weapon is barely a "cruise" missile. It cannot fly at low altitudes and the IR signature is too great and the path is also somewhat predictable. The real challenge would be to create a maneuverable hypersonic glide weapon......................no, the real challenge would be to create a defense system for such a weapon.

The hypersonic glide trajectory might be a little inconvenient for us too, since the switch from dive to glide phase will most likely occur over Chinese territory and they can put AAD-type interceptors to shoot down the missile before it switches to glide phase, or even has a chance at turning on its scramjets.

But the minimal interception window a hypersonic glide weapon affords to its adversary is a better bet than simple sub-sonic cruise missiles that might have to be launched in the 100s to ensure that 1 gets through to Shanghai or Beijing.

Simple mathematics.
Check the max launch range of the S-300 and compare it with that of the Brahmos.
There are no known range figures for the air launched Brahmos but it is obvious that it will be greater than the ground launched version because of two factors - launch altitude, and initial velocity at launch.

The detection range of all air defence radars is far greater than the engagement range of the missile systems they direct.
The issue is not evading detection, its evading destruction. Brahmos can be launched outside the engagement envelop of S-300, and its speed and S-Maneuver capability makes it hard to destroy once in flight.

And I'm not even considering the ELTA deceptive-jamming pods for the MKI which have been inducted for the precise purpose of delaying detection by ground based radars.

As for the Jaguars, I meant that they practice deep raids into China...under radar detection range. Read the post and understand it first.
Chinese air defence is mostly clustered in the Himalayan ranges facing India... beyond that, in the open plains of the Chinese hinterland, even china doesn't have the resources to put the entire area under radar cover, except perhaps organic air defence assets where PLA units are operating.

Never-Before-Seen Footage Solves BrahMos ‘Island Test’ Mystery

In April 2015, the Indian Army mysteriously withdrew a press statement made just hours before announcing that it had successfully conducted an island launch of the BrahMos Block III supersonic cruise missile from India’s island territories, the Andaman & Nicobar. Neither the Army nor BrahMos Corp. offered an explanation for why the detailed statement, accompanied by photographs of the April launch, was withdrawn. Was the test a failure? The mystery quietly dissipated, but now stands solved. First, take a look at the video above. The April 2015 test did in fact take place, and was precisely how the Army announced it. In fact, the Army conducted two more identical tests a month later in May 2015. Livefist chanced upon never-before-seen footage of these two latter tests in BrahMos Corp’s 2017 official film displayed at the recent Aero India show, and subsequently shared in original form with your correspondent. Our map of the launch from 2015 depicts precisely how the land-to-land launch played out.

Top sources confirm that while the series of tests was fully successful, the reason the statement was withdrawn was that the tests weren’t meant to be announced publicly — certainly not as ‘extended range’ tests (BrahMos Corp recently conducted the first extended range test following India becoming signatory to the MTCR). The distance between Car Nicobar and Trak Island is well within the BrahMos Block III’s 290-km range, so the test actually wasn’t at any ‘extended range’. The other reason why the Army changed its mind about the test was environmental sensitivities that have prevailed over the use of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for weapons tests. The use of the uninhabited Trak Island (really an atoll) for the test wouldn’t have gone down well with environmentalists (and perhaps departments within the government itself), even though a designated group of islands in the chain have been approved for such target tests.

The tests proved wholly successful though. And the footage you see here on Livefist for the first time confirms that the island strike tests went through without a hitch.

i will come to this but basically you didnt get my point. my point was to have brahmos tested on Su-30mki and equipped on T-50 and also modifying brahmos missile as stealth one wil be lot interesting. now he have neutralized radars to minimal effect. and we have FIRST deep strike capacity before they engage.

Now to your point. im still not convinced. Given a good bunch of radars on very chinese border would still detect our Jets when they are still in our border and point of deep strike to extent the missile's range comes only when the frontline barriers are destroyed. so T-50 with Brahmos are a good combination.

The missile is definitely not fall from 90 deg, coz of a simple logic that 90* Deg angle will look same from any angle of camera when it is placed horizontally flat to the horizon.

If the "Target" is exactly between the "camera" and the "missile" then no matter what, the missile will appear falling in exactly 90* deg.

That's what block III been designed for for stiff mountain scenario.

Brahmos Block III Successfully Test Fired

The BRAHMOS Block III+ version was successfully test fired this morning at 1055 hours from the Interim Test Range (ITR) in Orissa. This landmark test once again established the mountain warfare capability of the supersonic cruise missile with new guidance scheme incorporating large scale manoeuvre and steep dive with precision strike capability. Naval ship placed with telemetry stations confirmed the accuracy of the mission and marked it as a text book launch. Defence Minister Shri AK Antony congratulated the DRDO and BrahMos team with this highly successful launch of the new version of BrahMos. In this launch campaign the missile was put though extreme conditions and it successfully went through all complicated manoeuvres as envisaged in the battlefield in mountain terrains following the exact flight path given to it, said Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, CEO & Managing Director of BrahMos Aerospace. High ranking army officers, who witnessed the launch, congratulated the BrahMos and DRDO team with this achievement which will provide unmatched capabilities to the Indian Armed forces.

I have the knowledge about block 3. The video just didn't show a 90 deg hit. And i never meant brahmos is incapable of doing so. Don't wrongly understand. And put your words in my mouth.

GOVT REFUSES TO REVEAL NUMBER OF BRAHMOS MISSILES DEPLOYED IN COUNTRY
SATURDAY, APRIL 08, 2017 BY INDIANDEFENSE NEWS

Brahmos is a state-of-the-art supersonic cruise missile, which is a universal missile capable of being launched from multiple platforms.
NEW DELHI
: Citing security concerns, the government today refused to share in the Lok Sabha the number of Brahmos cruise missiles deployed in the country.
Responding to a question on the number of Brahmos missiles used by Russia, the number deployed in India and the quantum of investment by the two nations, Minister of State for Defense Subhash Bhamre said the Indo-Russia joint venture was a big success for India.
"Brahmos is a state-of-the-art supersonic cruise missile, which is a universal missile capable of being launched from multiple platforms.
"As regards the details that he has asked, I do have all the details. But due to security reasons of the country, I would not like to divulge," he said during the Question Hour.
Responding to a question on the need for uninterrupted supply of spares from Russia for military equipment, he said the issue has been discussed between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"As a result of that, there was an inter-governmental military industrial conference held on March 17 and 18. It was primarily aimed at long term supply agreement between Russian original equipment manufacturers and the Indian armed forces and companies for spare parts of different platforms and formation of joint ventures and partnerships between Indian vendors and Russian original equipment manufacturers," he said.
The first agreement was for long-term support for Sukhoi 30 MKI fleet, he said.

It was actually asked by some MP in the Loksabha and the Mos for defence said those details can't be disclosed ...

But it wont be any big difficult to know the exact number of missiles produced if our adversary s track our capabilities very closely ...

This is a demonstration of pure stupidity to be asking for public details of things that impact
national security. How will our adversaries know??? if this is the case then billions are wasted.
