    ISLAMABAD:
As part of a fresh strategy to prevent incursion of supporters of Taliban and Islamic State through the Afghan border, Pakistan’s armed forces will continue their war against militants in the tribal areas of North Waziristan and South Waziristan until 2019.

The civilian and military leadership have also decided to use the military as a backup force beyond 2019 in all the volatile areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as well as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, senior military officials informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence on Thursday.

“We shall continue fighting against militants in the north-west,” a committee member quoted a military officer as saying. “We fear incursion of militants having links with Taliban and Da’ish from the other (Afghan) side of the border.”

Looks like paki army has found it's new cash cow.....

on a side note: Why 2019? looks like as long as Modi is PM , Baki army is not interested in focussing on their eastern border.

FATA is a joke, a mistake we inherited from the Raj. The territory must be annexed and brought under direct central rule. That is the only solution to stabilise the impoverished area and to secure it from CR cross border insurgents

    And the mission creep begins.

Trying to regulate people who do not want to be regulated and feel that they have cheated by everyone from foreigners to military to government. Their culture and autonomy being reduced to rubble for the sake of US, again and again.

Good luck with that. You'll need it.
