There are some serious issue coming up with this truck, During trails at thar, This truck sinked over desert ..

This was due to narrow tyres, A&L on other hand passed and awarded to mount 122mm MRLS, It was also lowest bidder ..
Kunal, you have source for those trials?

This just goes to prove that the private sector does not have a magic wand and the difficulty faced by DRDO in much more complex projects like arjun and lca.

About the trails, These were two contenders for mounting 122mm MBRL, A&L preform better also lowest bid ..

===============
@The Fox,

The truck is multi-purpose and can be used for any job, from logistic purpose to tow arty and tanks and to mount Missiles and Arty guns, Etc ..

===============

@rvipheonix,

If people think that Private sector is a magic wand in R&D, its a mistake ..

If people think that Private sector is a magic wand in quality manufacturing, Then its indeed true ..

Hey Kunal what is the purpose of this truck does this used as a command center or as a mobile quarters

Ashok Leyland is a black horse that always steals the show from Tata when it comes to military trucks, so far they have sold 65,000 four-wheel-drive Stallion trucks for the Indian Army which is also sold to foreign countries .Truck which has an 8-litre, 6-cylinder, third generation common rail diesel engine that can deliver 360-400 bhp.

The current bid is for 1,239 units of 6-wheel-drive high-mobility vehicles, 255 units of 8-wheel-drive high mobility vehicles and 100 units of field artillery tractors.
Ashok Leyland and L&T (Collaboration) emerged the lowest bidder for procurement of 100 multibarrel rocket launchers (meant to upgrade the BM21 rocket launchers) . The value of the contract is about Rs 100 crore, according to industry sources.
The contract involves refurbishing the existing rocket launchers and mounting them on new vehicles. The weapons-related work will be done by L&T and the vehicle is a new Ashok Leyland platform. The Leyland-L&T combine left behind a team of Tata Group companies (Tata Motors and Tata Power SED) and a team of Tatra, Bharat Earth Movers and Bharat Electronics.

any plans for kamaz to enter bharat fauj????
Not with those little tires. They are not producing the military grade KamAZ trucks in India yet.

As of now, VFJ and Ural India are in the fray for MBRL carriers.

wat about these??????

Those will be made by Tata, Ashok-Leylandd, Ural-Mahindra-BAE, and also by OFB.

I was talking about MBRL.

BM-21 Grad is currently placed on ZiL(?) or UralAZ trucks, and Smerch is mounted on Tatra trucks.

BM-21 Grad on UralAZ

BM-21 Grad on TATA

BM-21 Grad on Ashok Leyland

Smerch on Tatra

This Ashok Leyland 10x10 will be good for the Smerch and we won't have to rely on Tatra

What KamAZ makes in India is for civilian and commercial use - 8x8

What KamAZ makes in Russia is for military use, and they should start making these in India - 8x8

What Ural India makes (not sure of orders) in India (assembled from parts supplied by UralAZ) - 8x8

What Ashok Leyland offers in India, and will probably be offered via VFJ as they have a tie up - 8x8

What Tata offers in India, and will probably be offered via VFJ as they have a tie up - 8x8

What Ural India is actually producing that is going to replace the Russian made UralAZ - 6x6

@Blackwater, @bhramos and others interested.

1954 photo of Telco's first TATA- Mercedez Benz diesel truck.
My favourite vehicle.1210 .Its the direct copy of a japanese benz1953 model truck.Later TATA made modifications in this model after 1964 and produces variants as 1210A,B,C and 1210D.It could be seen now days also in many places even though very rarely.
