Pakistan once again violated border in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, prompting deadly clash with Afghan forces.

Officials say eight Pakistani soldiers were killed in a clash with Afghan forces during a clash erupted after border violation in Paktika province.

Spokesmen from the three security agencies of Afghanistan, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense and National Directorate of Security (NDS) told a news conference in Kabul that the skirmish occurred in Barmal District late last night.

Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said that Pakistani soldiers wanted to establish military installations inside Afghanistan but Afghan forces attempted to prevent them from border violation.

He added that the dispute was followed by a deadly clash between the two sides leaving eight Pakistani soldiers killed.

The spokesman said that one Afghan soldier also embraced martyrdom while defending his country.

This is not the first time Pakistan tried to violate border and occupy Afghan land. In several occasions they have tried to establish their military installations inside Afghan territory but Afghan forces have prevented them.

ISLAMABAD: At least two Pakistani security personnel were injured when the Angoor Adda gate on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border came under attack from the other side.
    http://tribune.com.pk/story/912997/cross-border-attack-injures-2-pakistani-soldiers-in-angoor-adda/

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the gate was attacked using an RPG-7 (Rocket Propelled Grenade) and small armsfire from the Afghan side. However, it was not immediately clear who had mounted the attack.

“Pakistani troops responded and targeted positions from where fire was coming,” the military’s media wing said.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson Seddiq Siddiqi told media in Kabul that the clashes occurred late Tuesday at Bermal border region of Paktika.

He alleged that Pakistani forces had been involved in “construction inside the Afghan territory.”

“Afghan border police intervened and exchanged fire. As a result, one Afghan border policeman was killed,” he claimed, adding that eight Pakistanis were also killed in the exchange of fire.

Their ISPR is denouncing that it was a major attack but the fact is it was. The details will not be out in Pakistan. They tried to do Indian Style 'HOT PURSUIT' inside Afg but got caught by Afg snipers :shoot:

it was not hot pursuit.....they kind of setup a chowki there.which Afghan soldiers objected, there was lots of verbal fighting there after that few mins of peace then those soldiers got some instructions from whome dunno and after that they opened fire.

Why building a Chowki Inside their territory covertly, to carry out covert ops . That's breach of Afghan sovereignty and must be dealt with full force.

Interesting. Afghans wanted 150 T-72s and 105mm guns from India. I hope we supply them these soon.

That was when Karzai was the president. Supermoron Ghani retracted that request.

Of course when Ghani has been dumped by the Afghans. Heck if Abdullah Abdullah come to power than even Akash and LCA can be provided.

We could have supplied them with those weapons, but what is the guarantee that two years down the line there won't be a new regime hostile to India? As much as we want to help Afghanistan, harsh realities are restricting us to limit our help to civil and non-lethal assistance.

I am waiting for the last four years for the two pronged border clashes between PA and her neighbours. If Iran joins that will be icing on the cake. That is the real meaning of string of pearls around PakChi friendship.

Handful of tanks and howitzers are not that big of a deal. By that I mean these armaments though powerful are in no way capable of hurting Indian interests through military means. Political means are a different thing.

India should hedge its bet. Amrullah Saleh has reestablished National Front of Afghanistan which is essentially the diet version of Northern Alliance. Ahmed Shah Massoud's nephew is also actively taking part in politics (trained in India).

India should provide arms if requested by Afghan govt but at the same time invest in the political and military capabilities of ANF.
