In what could be termed as heights of religious intolerance, a 90-year-old Hindu man was brutally assaulted in Pakistan for merely eating rice at 6.30 PM, which just 40 minutes before the end of Islamic daily fast.

If our law justifies ban on public eating during roza; then beef ban in India & hijab ban in France are also justified. #apartheid

Chacha Gokal Das was left bleeding after Mir Hussain Hydrani, a Pakistani policeman brutally beat him up.

Long time ago, a Pakistani dictator Zia ul Haq passed Ehtiram-e-Ramadan (Respect for Ramadan), a law which makes eating or drinking in public during Ramadan illegal.

Vindod Kumar, Gokal Das’ grandson filed a complaint against Mir Hussain for injuring and torturing his grandfather. And only after a social media uproar, a local Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja arrested the erring policeman.

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto, daughter tweeted:

A policeman in #Ghotki beat up an elderly Hindu man 4 eating before iftar. The policeman has been arrested #ZeroTolerance #Justice4GokalDas
