In a first in India, 40,000 troops launch mammoth anti-Naxal operation

An anti-Naxal operation involving close to 40,000 security personnel was launched today in all affected states today with an aim to strike at the root of Maoist formations and cadres.

The four-day operations, led by paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was started at the crack of the dawn at 4 am from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and other states.

This is the first time the forces, both central and state, have launched a coordinated operation to flush out Naxals from their interior hotbeds.

"The operation has begun today and a huge deployment of joint forces has been made. The idea is to scramble all the forces at one time so that Naxals cannot flee into neighbouring territories if they feel pressure by the security forces in one area," CRPF chief Dilip Trivedi told PTI. Officials said all the states, which also include West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are part of this maiden offensive being undertaken against Maoist groups.

The proposal was recently mooted during a meeting of police chiefs of all the Naxal violence hit states and the results of the four-day operations will be analysed threadbare and a decision to undertake such offensives in the future would be decided.

The operation is being coordinated by CRPF with other forces like ITBP, BSF, SSB and various state police forces
. Close to 40,000 personnel have been mobilised, especially along state borders, to take on the Naxals, sources said.

The forces, according to sources, have asked their senior commanders to be on ground and all the operations are coordinated not only at state police headquarters here but also at the CRPF directorate here.

Enough quantity of arms and ammunition has also been made available to the forces while a fleet of BSF and IAF helicopters have been positioned by air droppings and evacuation.\

Initial reports did not suggest any casualty on the forces' side but few Naxal camps have been busted,
they said

Interesting. The main problem would be to be able to turn the tribals and sympathizers to our side.

It is the apathy of the govt in not being able to provide basic amenities in rural places which in turn is playing a role in people sympathizing with the naxals. Those who do not sympathize voluntarily are forced to do it but unless and until the govt makes sure that all its welfare schemes are able to reach the most rural and tribal regions there is not much one can do to turn the tide apart from being barbaric and killing them all.

Naxals do force people and are even indulged in kidnappings and even threaten people . Government do try to reach in the rural and tribal regions but its naxals who are blowing up schools and hospitals and there have been cases in which they don't even let polio teams to go .

Those who've taken up arms against the State must not be spared.

However, it would be good if the Indian Government introspected and understood as to why the Naxal movement gained such traction in India.
The Indian Government needs to take comprehensive steps to ensure the Adivasi rights are not trampled over once the Naxal menace decreases.

Killing or destroying ours own people life is wrong be there from any religion and these Naxals and Maoists have to understand this .

Naxals and Maoists gained ground around Independence due to the zamindari system which was the result of the policies adopted by the Britishers and Princely states and now that system doesnt exist but still there are some who were exploiting it in the name of wealth distribution as most of the natural resources are there in those states which are affected by Naxalism and this is giving losses to the nation on international markets .

The success of the operations will depend on the intelligence inflow and the coordination between not only the forces being unleashed, but also within the various sub elements of the forces being pressed into operation.

The end is near for those commie bastards...:namaste:
They won't find any. It's crop season, the maoist cadre is mostly doing their regular jobs, ie as labours and farmhands. Out of these 40000, more than half would be simply reasserting control over the are while the remaining would push the 'boundaries' further, PR pictures will be clicked with CAPF guys prancing around with their shiny new weapons, elected representatives will inaugurate a school or two. The effects will last for give or take a few months till the operation has tempo, then the realities of deployment will bite back, troop numbers would be cut, after having successfully established 'peace', the density of peacekeepers will thin, maoists would be back in full numbers in late summer when it's agricultural off season, front line troops will fall back to safer areas once maoists pull off a major attack, boundaries will be restored to their original location and the circle of life shall continue.

Very good analysis :thumb:

War with naxals and maoists cant be won by killing them but by winning hearts and minds because they are our own people . Government for sure is having certain plans to curb the naxals and Maoist explotions and for this methods would be implemented like Government will give lands for farming and will let these tribal people to have houses , schools will be constructed etc . Naxals should give up arms and join mainstream .
