Gandhara was a region, not a civilization.

@Neo -

Noted from where exactly? Please provide the factual sources behind such notings.

If you can claim a specific number like 4 in rankings and that too globally, then the source from which it is derived should also be mentioned.

They want to enhance religious tourism in Pakistan to include Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and other religions ? Seriously? The Taliban slaughters 145 people, including 132 children, all Muslim, in Peshawar and they are going to "enhance" religious tourism from other religions, including Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists. I don't know what they are going to do to "enhance" religious tourism to Pakistan, but it is very doubtful that it will be successful as long as the place remains infested with fanatical Muslim terrorists. I can just see the headlines now: "200 Japanese Buddhists Massacred on Bus Trip to Gandhara: Taliban claim responsibility: Attack was on idol-worshipping infidels". Yeah, lots of luck with "enhancing" religious tourism to Pakistan! :rolleyes:

Re: Pakistan ranks fourth in world as IT service provider to overseas

What brought me to this thread was...I meant IT means International Terrorism for Pakistan.. My first concern was how the heck they dropped 4 points on the rank?

The article itself looks like written by a journalist with 12 year old vocabulary smoking Afghan weed.

Services Trade Development Council (STDC) during its maiden meeting noted that Pakistan is the fourth largest IT service provider to the overseas clients ranked only behind US, India and Philippines with over 200,000 Pakistani professionals working in this field.
:rolleyes:

Over 2 00 000 Professionals working and the industry is 4th largest. Defenitely weed!!

Reality Check
Global IT ranking: Pakistan drops 14 places in a year
KARACHI:

Pakistan's ranking dropped 14 places to 102 in a year out of the 142 countries in the Global Information Technology Report 2012 of the World Economic Forum with most pillars deteriorating.

The ranking shows the government's lack of efficiency and poor governance, reads a statement released by WEF's local partner Mishal Pakistan.

The report indicates challenges and opportunities on 10 different pillars, where Pakistan has not been able to show any remarkable improvements in the previous year.

The only positive from the report was that Pakistan stood the fourth cheapest mobile cellular tariffs, showing the cut-throat competition in the telecom sector.

Cellular tariffs came under affordability in the ten pillars which had an impressive rank of 26 among the total 142 countries.

Pakistan lost its competitive advantage on the fixed broadband internet tariffs, where it dropped the ranking to 79 in from 36. The extent of information and communications technologies improving access for all citizens to basic services – health, education, financial services – also took a dip to 113, falling back 30 places from last year.

Pakistan also improved its competitiveness in certain areas including, efficiency of the legal system in challenging regulations, where Pakistan improved from 95 in 2011 to 79 in 2012 out of 142 countries. The judicial independence was also highlighted as one of the advantages in Pakistan.

The quality of education system and the capacity for innovation also shows improvement of 7 points each ranking at 79 and 51, respectively.

Sweden stood (1st) and Singapore (2nd) top the rankings in this year's report in leveraging information and communications technologies to boost country competitiveness. Switzerland (5th), the Netherlands (6th), the United States (8th), Canada (9th) and the United Kingdom (10th) also show strong performances in the top 10.

"Despite efforts over the past decade to develop information and communications technologies (ICT) infrastructure in developing economies, a new digital divide in terms of ICT impacts persists," sums up the report.

Published in The Express Tribune, April 5th, 2012.

Offshore Software Development – Gartner’s Top 30 Countries | CamiApp

Gartner's Top 30 locations for offshore services in 2010, by region, are:

Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
Asia/Pacific: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA): Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Mauritius, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Turkey and Ukraine.

So are we to understand that just within 2-4 short years, Pakistan has improved so much in terms of stability and ease of doing IT offshoring business that out of nowhere it has overtaken Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. :rolleyes:

The report is not right.

Pakistan should be #1 in IT outsourcing and issuing over Phd/Degree/Diplomas as well.

IT = International Terrorism.

Stable electricity supply is important for data centers and IT stuff.
You simply can't assume you can power your servers, data centers and office computers out of thin air just because a group of Madrassah mullahs in Pakistan proclaim so. @Neo

What maybe we have missed is that overseas service IT providers maybe right, because a huge many from Pakistan would be the service support for the Overseas Terrorists and that cannot be officially countred.

this report looks like, and reeks like the previous report where some fool said that pakistan exports multimillion dollars of weapons to international client.

it sure looks like a propaganda to change the usual paki image in international arena.
