Late Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has found a permanent place in the hearts of people due to a number of welfare schemes implemented by him, Congress MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said today.

"It was Rajasekhara Reddy who introduced schemes like free power, tuition fees reimbursement for poor students, reservation for minorities and old age pensions. That is why he is not forgotten even 13 months after his death...He will be remembered forever," he said.

Jagan was speaking at various villages during his ongoing
'Odarpu yatra' in Prakasam district.

He reiterated his allegation that there is an attempt to defame his father though he is no more.

"They are trying to defame a man who is no more. How can a dead person defend himself. It shows the level to which political standards have fallen," he said.

Today is the 20th day of his yatra in Prakasam district and he started his tour from Gannavaram village today. He unveiled statues of his father at a number of villages during the yatra.

Despite Congress high command's reservations, Jagan resumed the yatra on September 3 in Prakasam district, a day after the first death anniversary of his father. The high command, however, indicated that it may not take any action against him for now.
