Totally true. You can tell just by looking at the engine. HTT-40's turboprop engine with over 1000 HP may cost 1 million dollars while Yak-152's diesel engine with 500 HP cost only 0.2 million dollars. there are different expectations for different planes.HTT-40 is much bigger, heavier and complex plane for advanced training.
Yak-152 is a small and cheap elementary flight trainer for flight schools and DOSAAF aeroclubs.
Considering it is a radial design from WWII it would be old fashioned.HongDu CJ-7 even use a radical-piston engine which make it looks pretty old fashioned. But I like it
