Actually, in the northern parts there is a belief amongst certain communities during certain periods of the year, the dead are not to be cremated, but to be offered to river. Its done very respectfully and has been a custom amongst them for as long as memory goes. Its got nothing to do with lack of wood (there are social organisations who ensure that doesnt happen). India registered less than 30,000 new coronavirus cases for the first time in 132 days (March 16) with 29,689 fresh infections being registered in the last 24 hours. This took the country active case tally to 3,98,100 which 1.27% of the total cases. The fall in active caseload below 4 lakh is also after 124 days, according to the latest updates from the Union Health Ministry’s Covid bulletin. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.73 per cent.

So where do you think the bottleneck is ? States throttling the rates and not vaccinating required numbers per day or center not doing their bit by supplying ? Center had said that states supply must run below a certain minimum threshold to have them replenished I believe, and many a times that threshold is not reached.

Going at about 35-45 lakh doses per day averaging about 15 crore doses a month.

Is the center procuring enough regardless of the pace being followed by the state?

We should have covered at least over half of our population by now with at least one dose but are still languishing at ~45 crore doses(at least one dose).

Cases are on the rise again. Two cases in our apartment today. The residents were kind enough to inform the RWA. Both above 50, doubly vaccinated... mild symptoms so far. Only time will tell whether we go into another semi-lockdown in September/Oct.

Nothing wrong here... maybe MoHFW is still not sure whether human to human transmission is possible as even the WHO isn't 100% sure.
