Antibody from common cold reacts to COVID infection: Study

US researchers have identified that a special type of antibody is produced in patients who've had Covid-19 as well as common colds, an advance that may be the starting point for broader-acting vaccines.

The study, by a team from the Scripps Research Institute, found that the cross-reactive antibody is produced by a memory B cell -- an essential part of the immune system.

They "remember" initial disease threats and can circulate in the bloodstream for decades, ready to be called back into action if the threat emerges again. These cells are responsible for producing targeted antibodies.

"We were able to determine that this type of cross-reactive antibody is likely produced by a memory B cell that's initially exposed to a coronavirus that causes the common cold, and is then recalled during a Covid-19 infection," said senior author Raiees Andrabi, an investigator from the varsity's Department of Immunology and Microbiology.

Corona cases India update: India records 50% fall in daily Covid cases in just 3 weeks from peak | India News - Times of India
1622384958018.png

NEW DELHI: The meteoric rise of Covid-19 cases during the second wave that overwhelmed the health infrastructure in the country is now being matched by an equally steep decline in infections. In just three weeks, the seven-day average of daily cases has fallen to half the number recorded at the peak of infection on May 8.
The average fell below 2 lakh on Saturday and stood at 1,95,183, almost exactly 50% of the peak of 3,91,263, as per TOI’s Covid database collated daily from state government figures. The 50% reduction in average daily cases in the second wave has come in half the time as compared with the first wave of the pandemic in the country.

China PUNISHES Brazil with Coronavirus Terror
The Chinese Communist Party is holding Brazil hostage by withholding Sinovac coronavirus vaccines after Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro criticized China's role in the coronavirus pandemic. Its how China is using vaccine diplomacy and its grip on the global medical supply chain to create coronavirus terror.
It was extremely unwise of the Brazilian government to rely on China for vaccines.

Despite China's track record of terrorist like behaviour of withholding critical material at the time of crisis, nations continue to do business with them.

It's seriously insane.

What options were available to them?
American companies were asking bases; Indians would not supply. Then China was only hope they had.

The only option if you ever want to have even a semblance of independent foreign policy.

Self-reliance or atleast get license for producing locally, even at higher costs.

I understand there are no good options. But relying on China for something as critical as vaccines is like expecting Porkies to not be terrorists.

Moderna announces 25 million doses of their COVID-19 vaccine for Australia

Currently, Australia has no local manufacturing capabilities and needs to import mRNA vaccines.
So Moderna will get them 10m in Nov 21. Pfizer will only come in 2022.

If you can't produce in-house, you are screwed and at someone's mercy.

Imagine, if we didn't have SII and BB or if we had some retarded Pappu in power with anti-nationals supporting him in a coalition.

Even in this pandemic, the oppostion states have done nothing to make the impact of pandemic more bearable for their citizens. They have only worked to make the situation worse.

Guangzhou Locks Down Neighborhood as Variant From India Reported

Just 21 cases and they are locking everything down.

I think the Chini are shi*ting their undies.

They know if this spreads, they will be screwed. Their healthcare is pretty pathetic and no where near Western standards.

As much as they mocked us, they will be much worse if it spreads.
If you understand it is first time since Wuhan that they have been less opaque and admitted about infections and lockdown.

One thing I have observed that, they do these kind of "Stunts" or "Misinformation" whenever there is a global pressure building against China.

Remember China announced the Pandemic and Lockdowns when they were in midst of a scathing 'Tariff Wars' with the USA.

The whole Covid pandemic fiasco took away the attention from the ongoing Tariff Wars.

The same disturbing trend Iam observing this time also.
Who really knows if there is genuinely a new Covid surge or China playing 7D chess?

Looks like China is in serious shit. Their covid defence system is breached by B.1.617 just like the star performers of 2020 like Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia. The world needs to realise that the defences made for original Wuhan strain and B.1.117 is not sufficient. It needs a substantial overhaul.

Same here in hyd a RWA conducted vaccination of 1200+ yesterday of Covidshield . Most RWA taken it up on war footage to vaccinate their residents .As its work from home and most are locked inside their houses RWA vaccination drive works as faster option compared to corporate drives getting conducted in campus and asking employees to travel in lockdown

This trying to book slot online playing fastest finger first is futile for most people . its better to wait and get vaccinated in RWA vaccination drive as your exposure to hospital environment is also avoided in this covid flare up that's the last place to visit .

Also we should seriously put our focus in Metro and non metro cities with high denisty population as priority to get the vaccination coverage done . Rural india with very low population density can do vaccinating at their current phase .

RWA's in Bangalore are finally managing to get their hands on vaccines.

A neighbouring complex ran a drive with more than 4000 people getting their first shot of Covaxin.

Our turn is next.

Hopefully, most of Bangalore willing to get vaccinated could be covered within the next 2-3 months or earlier if people aren't picky about a particular vaccine.

These are paid vaccination drives and a single dose of Covaxin will cost Rs. 1500. Let's hope it is effective for a year at least in keeping severity low as they claim.

Going by the hints being given by various Govt's and vaccine manufacturers, Covid vaccines may become an annual or biennial ritual. Fak dat.

Covid-19 has no ‘credible natural ancestor’, created in Wuhan lab, new study claims

British Professor Angus Dalgleish and Norwegian scientist Dr Birger Sørensen authored the new 22-page paper which is set to be published in the Quarterly Review of Biophysics Discovery, as per Daily Mail. The study reportedly claimed that the Chinese scientists also tried to cover their tracks by reverse-engineering the viruses to make it look like they naturally arose from bats.

Quoting the authors, Daily Mail said that the duo had “prima facie evidence of retro-engineering in China” for a year but was ignored by academics and major journals. The study also accuses Chinese labs of “deliberate destruction, concealment or contamination of data.”
