While i agree this is not the time for politics, its only natural for ppl to question the gujarat model when the kerala model was trolled recently.

Meanwhile courts want the ‘truth’....

Gujarat High Court asks State government to publish data on COVID-19 tests, deaths

Posting pics/videos of burning pyres with subtle wordings of mockery by SM influencers/politicians is not a criticism. It is out right disrespect & pure hate.

Besides those who blame UP/North India for everything & go into orgasmic paroxysms when something negative comes from there are bound to get criticized back when they are number 1 or 2 in ISIS recruitment or get a sham award for "CoVID-19" containment just 3 months into the pandemic.

Disagree. This is an oft used fig leaf to defend the likes of ripped jeans rawat who brazenly said don’t worry abt any covid rules come have a swim in ganga. Yatha raja thatha praja. When the CM of a state encourages people to disregard all covid rules, the sanyasis followed to the letter.

Second, why didnt baba ‘beg’ sanyasi chiefs to make the whole affair ‘symbolic’ earlier? Why wait for the bomb to explode and then indulge in usual gimmicks?
Today Kerala hit 13800 cases. How is Baba responsible? What is local Baba doing?

The second wave was well in progress before Kumbh people started coming home.

Having said that BJP ought to grill UKD CM for that statement he made.

Now why did Baba not veto against holding Kumbh? Maybe not all decisions go through him. This could be a decision taken at the state level.

UKD government & organizing committee are responsible for this. They should have held a symbolic one.

In other news, prices of drug reduced

For UP -

Breaking: UP Govt grants Rs 225 Cr out of state disaster relief fund to district magistrates to fight second wave of Covid. The money will go for containment operations, medicines, PPE Kits, Oxygen Cylinders, Covid Testing Kits and Home Isolation kits

peaceful community didn't observe any lockdown even last year, it is futile to hope they will adhere to any calls for closing up or staying at home where they can't maintain sd anyway with the size of their families crammed into ratholes.

But what’s the point in conducting stupid board exams ?
Looking into present scenario, this virus is not going any time soon. Country has to learn some automatism, social distancing and mask which is basic minimum. It is not rocket science for a student going to take an exam to do this. Last year lockdown was evident as no one knew how this virus works, but now people have to use their brain.economy has to kick-start.

Today spoke to the wife of a patient who got discharged after staying for 15 days in hospital for COVID 19 infection. After spending the night at home they realized that patient was having breathing issues. When they rushed him back to the hospital ,there was no bed available . They searched for bed in 3 hospitals but it was futile. Finally we were able to manage a bed in our hospital . Condition is bad but the political parties are least bothered.

We had a 600 million capacity vaccine plant staying idle in Tamil nadu all this time 😳 .... govt now approaching bharat biotech to make covaxin there

https://theprint.in/health/modi-gov...e-covaxin-in-tamil-nadus-chengalpattu/640266/
wow, you guys are HUGE, so much capacity. But, for some reason not used. Strange. Even Canada has vaccine production facilities that our gov't isn't really interested in buying from. Even if they didn't trust the vaccine the gov't probably could have had the firm producing the vaccine of another firm.

You will need to learn living with this virus. Cannot perpetually postpone exams, you take one year from the life of students not acceptable in my opinion.
Wear your mask, social distancing, sanitise your hands this should reduce risks significantly.
And get vaccinated if possible. That's my take.
That's the new normal the sooner we accept the better it is.

Exams should be cancelled and all students should be promoted to next level board exams don’t serve any purpose at all
We shouldn’t underestimate this virus we cannot risk the lives of millions of people to conduct board exams , offline classes or elections

When india became indepenDent , we knew without medical infrastructure we are fucked .
Our government runs largest medical care program called ayushman bharat .
Still India's population is so huge, any amount of preparation dwarfs a crises.

Inhaled glucocorticoids/corticosteroids like budesonide help patients avoid Covid cytokine storm. Note: The study in the following article is specifically talking about glucocorticoids/corticosteroids inhalers like budesonide, NOT bronchodilator inhalers like salmeterol.

Medical inhalers or inhaled glucocorticoids that are commonly used by patients of asthma can possibly reduce risk of severe disease and hospitalisation in Covid-19 patients, a new study published in The Lancet journal has revealed.

Inhaled glucocorticoids are medicines that contain corticosteroids (drugs that lower inflammation in the body) such as budesonide, in a preparation that is designed to be inhaled through the mouth. They act directly on the lungs to inhibit the inflammatory process that causes asthma.

The Lancet study findings, by researchers from the University of Oxford, can explain why patients with chronic respiratory disease are less likely to end up in hospitals when infected with Covid-19.

Early studies of Covid patients from China, Italy and the US show that patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were significantly less likely to be hospitalised.

Based on these reports, the Oxford team hypothesised that this could be due to the widespread use of medical inhalers in these patients.

Studies conducted in labs revealed that inhaled glucocorticoids reduce the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in lung cells, and also the expression of genes that facilitate the entry of the virus into the cell.

Inhaled budesonide leads to shorter recovery time: Study

The researchers conducted a clinical trial in the UK involving 146 participants recruited between July to December 2020. Half of the people assigned to the group were asked to use inhalers that delivered budesonide along with usual Covid-19 care.

The team found that inhaled budesonide, when given for a short duration of time, could be an effective treatment of early Covid-19 in adults.

They found that clinical recovery was a day shorter for the budesonide group compared to the usual care group.

Meanwhile, the proportion of days that a patient had fever in the first 14 days was lower in the budesonide group than the usual care group. Furthermore, the proportion of participants with at least one day of fever was lower in the budesonide group.

Patients who received inhaled budesonide were also less likely to report persistent Covid-19 symptoms beyond 14 days.

The researchers concluded that early administration of inhaled budesonide reduced the likelihood of needing urgent medical care and reduced the recovery time after early Covid-19.

This effect, the team said, is equivalent to the efficacy seen after the use of Covid-19 vaccines. It is also better than any treatments used to prevent severe disease in hospitalised patients.

Some Salmeterol inhalers also have fluticasone propionate as an added ingredient, which is a corticosteroid.

New research suggests an over-the-counter nasal spray is effective at significantly reducing and nearly eliminating SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 after a single dose.

An in vitro study conducted by scientists from Northwestern University and Utah State University concluded that components found within the Xlear nasal spray, particularly grapefruit seed extract and xylitol, were successful in statistically reducing the amount of SARS-CoV-2.

After a single blast, the researchers saw the nasal spray reduced virus from 4.2 to 1.7 log10 CCID50 per 0.1 mL, a statistically significant reduction of 2.5 log10 CCID50.” News of the study was announced by Xlear and the company said this is only the latest research that reaches a conclusion the over-the-counter spray is effective against the virus that causes COVID-19.

Xlear is currently sold as a nasal irrigant for cleansing and moisturizing the nasal cavities.

Professor Mark Cannon of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University said the study breaks ground in two areas. Cannon said using electron microscopy, the researchers saw visual evidence that showed the combination of xylitol and grapefruit seed extract counters the virus. The grapefruit seed extract kills the virus, while the xylitol prevents the virus from attaching to the cell walls, Cannon said in the announcement. The study postulates that xylitol acts as a decoy target for SARS-CoV-2, preventing virus attachment to the core protein on the cell wall, he said.

“In addition to countering SARS-CoV-2, Xlear is likely effective in preventing the spread of future H1N1 viruses, including the emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants, along with other viral epidemics. Given the more transmissible variants we now face, this is critical now,” Cannon said in a statement.

That in vitro evidence will no doubt be used to support a new petition before the World Health Organization. This week, a coalition of health professionals petitioned the World Health Organization to issue Guidance calling on: “all people to use nasal sprays to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.” The petition, which is supported by Xlear, is touting data that shows these nasal sprays are able to block viral adhesion and even kill or deactivate the virus in the nasal passages. The petition calls specifically for WHO Guidance to focus on the use of nasal sprays that contain Xylitol and grapefruit seed extract, which is found in Xlear.

“Nasal sprays are proven safe, inexpensive, non-invasive, easy to use and you can get them off-the-shelf at your local store around the world. There is a growing body of data that sprays, in particular Xlear, can help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s pure commonsense,” Nathan Jones, chief executive officer of Xlear said in a statement.

In December, Xlear filed a Pre-Emergency Use Authorization request with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in hopes of securing authorization of the spray as a new hygiene tool to help in combat the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Xlear isn’t the only nasal spray that is showing promise in providing another level of protection against COVID-19, which has infected nearly 100 million people across the globe and led to the deaths more than 2 million people. Researchers from the University of Birmingham in the U.K. developed a nasal spray that can potentially provide protection against COVID-19. The spray uses compounds that are already approved by regulatory authorities in the UK, Europe and the U.S., including carrageenan, along with a gellan polysaccharide.

Another nasal spray that uses a lipopeptide, a cholesterol particle linked to a chain of amino acids, has also shown promise in preclinical testing. As BioSpace previously reported, the lipopeptide matches the stretch of amino acids in the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 exactly. The lipopeptide attaches itself onto one of the spike’s amino acid chains and prevents viral attachment.

Get well soon. It is the ‘virus titre’ that harms. Don’t get double exposed to virus or virus mutations during your infirmity. Isolate, clean hands, rest, eat and drink regularly.
I'm trying to limit as human interactions as possible
Haven't gotten out even out of my room

From what I've read, the following seem to help: Hydroxychoroquine, zinc supplement (sometimes also in multivitamins, you want at least 100% daily requirement), vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin C supplement, bismuth subsalicylate (available over the counter for upset stomach, also kills virus), paracetamol (have to be careful of dosage as it can be hard on liver if too much is taken, so can alternate with other fever/inflammation reducers), ibuprofen, aspirin, or something to control fever, glucocorticoids/corticosteroids inhalers like budesonide in case of breathing difficulties due to lung inflammation, Xlear nasal spray (available over the counter grapefruit seed extract and xylitol nasal spray from above article).
It's listed here as well:
Other than this, turmeric ginger green tea is a good immune system booster.

I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theoriest but There is some part of my brain that says, Chinese intentionally infacted world with their synthetic lab made virus.
