My colleagues dad was in hospital for almost 18 days , treatment didn't work out. Emotional pain is obvious but along with that people are being pushed to financial ruin as well. His bill was 15.5 lakh.

He is from Chennai. Elsewhere to I am hearing same to,10 day hospitalization cost nearly 10L for my neighbour's in law.

Yes costs are higher.
My suggestion would be that if anybody and their family aren't covered by their employer's mediclaim facilities or you think that is inadequate. Please look at 'Corona Kavach' mediclaim policy being floated by various insurance companies.

This doctor seems to confirm that its all due to the mutation of the Chinese Virus. It is 100% due to the virus and perhaps deliberately engineered into it in the Wuhan lab.
People at home who have never had oxygen, industrial or otherwise, have been treated by Dr. Haldipur. Another issue could be over steaming is killing the nasal canal's natural defences against the fungus which just hangs about in the air.

And now that crooked Fauci is also saying that Covid-19 could have came from a lab...... Why he took that UTurn now. The whole world has been crippled for more than year and he is now taking that UTurn.

Yes that is an issue. But for anyone having individual level insurance, super-top up can be advised but some policies can't be toped up like one that is provided by employer.

Also, I may not know the exact reason behind capping at 5L. But my guess is that it has been done to keep the premium at check. Since it is an IRDAI suggested product. The cost calculation must have taken into consideration the government capping on the per-day ventilator and other ancillary costs.
One may write to them to increase the limit as hospitalization costs are beyond the maximum limit. Still something is better than nothing.

Also people are being terribly drained financially due to blackmarketing and cash only dealings for medicines in shortage. Which isnt covered by any insurance cover.

If one is terribly sick, need icu ventilators then 5L is not enough.

Yeah true. But insurance can only cover costs but not greed. 1L per day cost is purely greed and old world demand vs supply situation.

Over 34 per cent of the population above 45 years has received at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in India till date. No protests/gatherings should be allowed in Delhi (farmers or otherwise) until most of the population has been vaccinated. This is essential for public health, unless we want superspreaders like the farmers' protests earlier to create another pandemic wave.
P.S., I would apply the same standard to rest of India: Stop all large gatherings until most people are vaccinated. If the press want to cry about it, let them. This is a national health issue.

US pharma company Pfizer has refused to send vaccines to Delhi and Punjab but it has hinted that it can supply five crore vaccine doses to India in 2021 if the Centre agrees to its terms and conditions, news agency PTI has reported.

According to the report, Pfizer can supply one crore vaccine doses in July, one in August, two crore in September and another one crore in October. But it will deal only with the government of India and the payment has to be made by GOI.

Pfizer, sources told to PTI, has also asked for indemnification from the Centre like it has with around 116 countries in the world, including the United States. Reuters reported that the US drugmaker wants legal protection from any claims linked to the use of its vaccine. Another report says Pfizer wants relaxations in the 'requirement of post-approval bridging trials and dispensing the requirement of testing their vaccines in Central Drugs Laboratory".

For the approval of any foreign-made vaccine, local trials in India are required, like Dr Reddy's Laboratory's conducted for Sputnik V, the only foreign vaccine approved in India. It is not yet known whether the government will agree to these clauses as other companies may raise similar demands.

As Pfizer refused to supply to individual states, the ministry said it has been coordinating with both Pfizer and Moderna. "Whether it is Pfizer or Moderna, at the Centre-level, we have been coordinating with them. The order book of both Pfizer and Moderna is full so it depends on their surplus that how much they can provide in India... they will come back to the Centre and we will help in facilitation to states," health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal said.

Pfizer has defended that 14.7 crore doses of vaccines have already been administered worldwide without any "significant reports of adverse effects". The expert group of vaccination will take a final call on allowing Pfizer, reports said.

Regarding Pfizer's vaccine, the Centre was initially doubtful as it required to be stored at minus 70 degree celsius. But recently, the company said that its vaccine can be stored at minus 25 degree, and it can also be stored for five days at a temperature between two degree and eight degree celsius
