If only 10 symptomatic patients are sent for testing, a good chance that half of them are +ve, with positivity ratio at 50%. Doesnt mean the remaining 90 people who reside in the area infected. To bring positivity ratio down all we need to do is send 50 other random people for testing. But right now we dont want to overburden the system and reserve the testing for those who truly need it.
Herd immunity out of infection recovery is too big a risk for lives, with the havoc it is playing with even young lives like Shri Vikram Sampath.

PS : Rajan Nikhalje, ie, Chota Rajan, a one time asset for India and has eliminated many Dawoodi gangbangers for killing innocent Hindus via terror attacks, has succumbed to COVID in AIIMS. Om Shanti.
High positivity rate is alarming even if the tested population is only the symptomatic ones.
If the city you live in reports 50% positivity rate, if you have a sore-throat and cough, it becomes an almost confirmed covid case and immediately the hunt for elusive magic medicines and O2 tanks start. This is scary.

I am well aware that Oxygen procurement was a logistical issue. This should have been sorted out well in advance. Anyone who has studied epidemics of history, they would realize that pandemic strikes in waves. The government should have taken advantage of the lull period of the entire second half of last year to prepare for all eventualities of the future. Strangely the government did absolutely nothing apart from electioneering and as a consequence is now struggling to contain the surge.

If people are dying from a lack of primary care, then this points to nothing but a criminal negligence on part of the government.
Read the court proceedings since April 28th in Delhi HC, hardly any of the points are applicable to central govt, almost all issues fall under the purview of state govts.

there is only one point where centre is involved in that is O2 supply, then again redistribution within the state is a mess by state govt.

On any given day 25,000 Indians die everyday due to all causes. From the start of pandemic 12.5 million Indians have died (500 days * 25000).

Official Covid deaths =2.34L
If somebody tells me that this is understated then there are also evidence that if a person was infected with Covid three months prior to death, then his cause would be Covid in certificate. This kind of balances out.

234000/12500000 * 100 = 1.87%

So rounding off to 2% - Total deaths in last 500 days due to Covid. We have a daily dashboard tracker for Covid which scares us everytime we see it moves up. Why don't we have Tracker for 98% of other deaths also like diabetes, diseases, cancer, road accidents, suicides, crimes, murders, road accidents, natural deaths?

I am sure if such Tracker existed you would stop moving out of your house keep all the doors and windows closed never stop on road and live life like in a closet basement.

Media has amplified covid many many times.

Ex-Defence doctors to provide online consultation on e-Sanjeevani OPD

Posted On: 07 MAY 2021 4:53PM by PIB Delhi

Ex-Defence doctors will now provide online consultation on e-Sanjeevani OPD to all citizens of the country. Veterans have come forward to answer the call of the nation and offered their services to help the people needing medical care. Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) Surgeon Vice Admiral Rajat Datta addressed the veterans who have come forward to offer their services, through video conferencing on May 07, 2021. This service can be availed by any civilian on the website https://esanjeevaniopd.in/.

The e-Sanjeevani OPD is a flagship telemedicine platform of the Government, developed by the Centre for Development of Advance Computing (C-DAC), Mohali under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). It provides free consultations to Indian citizens and is functioning extremely well. However, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, the demand for doctors is up while the supply has reduced as doctors are being pulled out for COVID ward duties. This is where the defence veterans are stepping in to help.

The Medical Branch of HQ Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) is providing telemedicine service for the serving and retired defence personnel and has coordinated with MoHFW and NIC to roll out this Ex-Defence OPD for civilian patients. Deputy Chief IDS (Medical) Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar has urged the fraternity of retired AFMS doctors to join this platform and provide valuable consultation to the citizens when the country is going through a difficult time.

There has been a good response from the retired defence doctors and more are expected to join soon. Subsequently, a separate nation-wide Ex-Defence Doctors OPD is envisaged. Their vast experience and expertise will help the larger clientele to obtain consultation from their homes and tide over the current situation.

I will post this article again. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to read this article before it gets taken down.

I want to emphasize that the first paper that purported this virus came from a lab was published by IIT scientists. That paper was retracted due to international pressure generated by several names mentioned in this paper. PLEASE. WAKE. UP.

The IITians and IIMs will take 1 month for their meetings only then they will take 1 more month to create a Model based on data and blah and blah
Then they will come to conclusion: Better let Center do the Job!
I have seen MBA being hired in hospitals. Sometimes I feel that a para medical person has more idea about healthcare than these morons.

Blind Boxes: All you need to know about China's new craze of getting animals delivered through courier

After endangering countless lives with the Wuhan Coronavirus, China is back in the news for a bizarre new craze of blind boxes. Animals are being sent to buyers via mystery parcels (referred to as blind boxes) through courier service. The new phenomenon has sparked off a global debate over the abuse and the ill-treatment of animals in the Communist-run country.

What is the occupancy of ICU's on an average.

Do they witness seasonal swings?

How many pneumonia/respiratory(non TB, non lung cancer) related deaths do Doc's encounter on an average year in India? Particularly so in ICU's. Is there any repository for all this data?

The occupancy of ICU definitely varies. Each hospital does have their own clinical data and audits are done regularly ,more often to meet the various compliances.

Had a very ugly argument with some senior administrators of our hospital today over beer . Buggers were abusing Babaji.
I asked that I admit Modi is not educated like them so he can make a mistake regarding healthcare . But you all are over qualified so why didn't you all increase the number of staff and beds in anticipation. Rather all hospitals reduced the number of Covid beds. All hospital's COOs ,CEOs and administrators should be thrown out of their jobs .
Pata nahi it was me or the beer par sabki bolti bandh ho gayi.
