This is legit, there is lockdown in Maharashtra, yet i found three guys huddled next to footpath exactly like this doing chit-chat.
I went to the medical store, it is full AC environment, and there again there was some guy without a mask, i mean literally came in without mask and went out after getting what he wanted, and there is a sign outside of the shop saying "no mask no entry"

covishield is looking to be useless anyway , heard rumours of large no of people getting infected even after 2nd dose. covaxine is better against mutant variants.

GOI should have given funds to bharat biotech , in jan itself . i think UK , EU will be buying covaxine in future.

The Health Ministry on Monday said that 100 per cent advance of Rs 1732.50 crore was released to the Serum Institute of India on April 28 for 11 crore doses of Covishield vaccine during May, June and July.

The amount, which after TDS was Rs 1699.50 crore, was received by the SII on April 28 itself, it said. As on date, against the last order of 10 crore doses for supplies of Covishield vaccine, 8.744 crore doses have been delivered till May 3, the ministry said, adding, media reports alleging that the Centre has not placed any fresh order for COVID-19 vaccines are "incorrect and not based on facts".

Additionally, 100 per cent advance of Rs 787.50 crore (after TDS Rs 772.50 crore) was released on April 28 to Bharat Biotech India Ltd (BBIL) for five crore Covaxin doses during May, June and July. The amount was received by them on April 28.

As on date against the last order of two crore doses for supplies of Covaxin vaccine, 0.8813 crore doses have been delivered till May 3, the ministry said.

"Hence, to say that fresh orders have not been placed by Government of India is not correct," it said. As of May 2, the Centre has provided more 16.54 crore vaccine doses to states and union territories free of cost. More than 78 lakh doses are still available with them to be administered, the ministry said.

"More than 56 lakh doses, in addition, will be received by states and UTs in the next three days," it stated.

Under the Liberalised Pricing and Accelerated National COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, Government of India would continue to procure its share of 50 per cent of the monthly Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) cleared vaccines and would continue to make it available to the state governments totally free of cost as was being done earlier, the ministry stated. The suspension of Chinese cargo services to India, impacting the import of pharmaceutical raw materials, has added to the industry’s worries.


India imports 70 per cent of its pharmaceutical raw materials from China. On 26 April, China suspended for 15 days cargo flights by Sichuan Airlines that had been transporting medical supplies to India. This, according to industry insiders, has led to a hoarding of important pharmaceutical raw materials.


In a letter written to Minister of External Affairs Dr S. Jaishankar on 29 April, the IDMA termed China’s move as “worrisome” and expressed concern that it would have “cascading effects on its entire supply chain leading to shortage of essential medicines for the nation’s population as well as severe impact on exports”.



Arora too said that “with China suspending cargoes to India, there is going to be a huge shortage [of vital drugs], especially in June and July. Even simple products such as azithromycin, paracetamol, and montelukast [needed for manufacturing medicines] might be in short supply.”

The main reason behind the surge in prices, according to industry insiders, is a huge demand for drugs, followed by anticipated shortages of raw material (owing to the suspension of cargo services by China), resulting in the hoarding of stocks here.
