NATCO seeks Emergency approval of Molnupiravir capsules for Covid-19 treatment

Natco Pharma Limited (NSE: NATCOPHARM; BSE: 524816) has applied to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in India for approval of Phase-III clinical trial of Molnupiravir Capsules for the treatment of COVID-19 positive patients.

Pre-clinical data have shown that Molnupiravir has broad anti-influenza activity, including highly potent inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 replication. Patients treated with Molnupiravir achieved response within 5 days of therapy indicating that the duration of treatment with Molnupiravir is short, with the additional advantage of being an oral therapy.

NATCO is hoping that CDSCO would give emergency approval of this drug based on "compassionate use" for patients. "Compassionate use" approval is given for investigational drugs so a patient with an immediately life-threatening condition can gain access to the drug. The company is ready to launch the product this month if approval is given.

If you open Twitter, you will think the world is ending.

Then you step out of a containment zone after 4 long days on testing negative and pass by a chat shop only to find people trying to gulp down their last Aloo Tikki Chat. Faith in humanity restored.

BC medical fraternity ek taraf.. bhukkad public ek taraf.... 'Bhaiyya.. aur thodi hari chutney dena..aaj maja nahi aa raha. Aur haan.. paav kilo jalebi parcel kar dena'.
That's because the imbecile has Covid and lost his sense of taste!:crazy:

"Public money" == Grant money equivalent in the US. The US funds research. The researchers that make discoveries subsequently are entitled to any compensation from it. The working assumption is that these technologies will benefit the US, and as such the government benefits by continuing to support such researchers who make advancements. Private companies get public grants all the time in this country and this is the basic working model. Ridiculous thinking.
Ok I will tell my masters to update the toolkit to include the points you have raised.
Your payment will be released from the Pfizer war chest funding😜

Ok so? They gave up leverage it sounds like. Hopefully, and I truly hope, the government realizes how ****ed they are if they don't get major supply-chain issues under control as well as handling domestic threats.

Please remember that Mumbai, and Maharasthra as a whole, is where the INITIAL second wave started. They are now on the downslope. It's an expected result. You will see the same stories across India within weeks. The difference is ELECTIONS.

India can bring down Covid surge to below 5% in 3 weeks, if...: AIIMS doctor

New Delhi: India can bring down the positivity rate to less than five per cent in the next three weeks, head of the department of medicine at All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS), Dr Naveet Wig said on Sunday.

"We can bring down the positivity rate to less than five per cent in India, in the next three weeks if we all take responsibility and abide by COVID appropriate behaviour," Dr Wig said while addressing a joint conversation on issues related to the Covid-19 situation with the Director of AIIMS (Delhi ) Dr Randeep Guleria, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Dr Sunil Kumar, and Chairman of Medanta Dr Naresh Trehan.

and put anti vaxers in straight jacket
Adhering to CoviD SOPs is paramount but I believe this new 'Indian' variant is far more contagious than the original kungflu. Only today I had a message off Test Track and Trace to say that I had been in contact with someone who was CoviD positive. The only contact I'd had outside of my immediate family in the past week was on the flight from India to London. My sister, who was on a different UK bound flight on the same day, had a similar message so quite a few passengers on both flights would have tested positive (only those sitting in the same aisle are classed as contacts) despite possessing negative RT PCR results within a 72 hour departure window.

I think everyone in India should be double masking (3 ply + cloth) to be absolutely safe- this was the CDC recommendation for the UK variant too. Since the R number is likely to be much higher than the original variant, a lockdown or CoviD SOPs on their own will achieve little so light touch containment efforts have to be combined with a rapid 1st dose vaccination campaign over the next 6 weeks to manage this wave.

Even the made in india vaccine is not entirely made in india
All products today depend on global supply chains.
If you want all elements of the supply chain made in your country, 0 imports except actual raw materials( say special minerals or fossil fuels ), you have to give atleast 10 years, and generous funding and other perks, the end product will be too expensive and non-competitive vs other "global supply chain" products in the market.

The lesson that many on the Right in Amerikkka are learning now, that I've been TRYING to tell people here on this forum is:

1. Fortify your diet with Vitamin D. Beyond bone health, Vitamin D is integral for immune health. There are ample studies suggesting it and in my own practice, I've seen people recover (I am talking about 98 year olds) with IV VItamin D
2. Eat a healthy diet. Avoid trash like Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Burger King, whatever. Eat a healthy diet and participate in physical exercise daily. Whether it is running 1 mile (~1.6km) daily or going and exercising in a gym and lifting weights.
3. Avoid toxic people. This means all leftists.

Edit: I once again must add a disclaimer. I'm not providing medical advice, but rather, common sense advice.
